I agree. The Ford GT40 and now the current GT are both great cars. Iconic!!!
I would like to own one someday.

I couldn't see the future in it. I wasn't a buyer before. There is no way I'm a buyer at these prices. I think it's crazy quite frankly.

You'd change your mind if you drove one. Better than a Scuderia any day of the week...

I will differ with this opinion (although I'm sure you have owned both) as I drove both back to back, the Scuderia had a sense of drama and occasion that the GT did not. I felt like the GT was so well mannered it could make an easy DD, while the Scud seemed too track oriented for public roads and speed limits.

    As a result I didn't buy either.

GT is a much better value though, because EVERY Ford guy wants one....huge market demand.

About 3 times the production and not even in the same league as far as engineering, materials and technology is concerned but right on the heels of the CGT in real values.
At current prices, FGT makes the latter look like a bargain.

    I'd use Clint as Shelby

    DeNiro as Enzo

    Michael Douglas as Ford

    Patrick Dempsey as Foyt

    Chris Helmsworth as Gurney

Owning one for 6 years and actually driving albeit minimally i can truly say this was one bad *** car. Owned and tweaked 3 Gt500 Shelbys as well.

F car vs GT isnt really camparable. Comparing a Les Paul Guitar to a Strata various violin driving hard wise.

    GT= raw guttural HP
Fcar= refined high revving fantasy fun

    Two different animals.

What I can say is the sale of my GT was the worst timing I could imagine in selling monetary wise. Didn't lose a dime on it but darn if I waited another 16 months well then I would have gained 125K. Oh well! Couldn't drive it due to back and neck operations.

    Lesson learned.

I'd sure like to have something I can use for the next 5 years. I'd go for fine art instead, at least it will fit in my living room.

Clint is too old, this is based on when Shelby was in his Mid 40's back in the 60's, I would use Matthew McCongauhey (SP?) as Shelby plus he is from Texas.

What happens to the original fgt value once 2.0 is out in few years? How about the 3.0? I think fgt becomes just another used car.

Similar thing will happen to nismo gtr. Only making few hundred world wide for 15 so speculators are all over it. But what if nismo decides to make as many as can sell in 16?

The FGT will never be just another used car. It may come back to reality but that reality will never be just another used car.

It will rise and fall on its considerable merits not just as an homage.

I agree. The value may increase, decrease, or remain the same but it will never be just another used car. I think the demand and prices have proven that as well.

The Ford GT won't become just another used exotic either. All used Ferrari's or Lambo's are not created equal as well and are not considered used exotics.

That's crazy. The market is what it is, but I think you'd have to be a retard to pay a $250K premium for pretty basic a paint job.

I agree. I prefer the dark blue with white stripes or white with blue stripes. I am not sure how many of the Heritage color GT's were made.
