Interview with Horner on the wall - He's not confirming Ferrari as his destination right now......

Vettel is confirmed to Ferrari and Alonzo is gone for sure, likely to McLaren. This is a big step backward for Ferrari IMHO and a big step forward for McLaren.

Red Bull Renault was been by far best car on the grid for 4 years. Vettel was only better than 1 other driver: Mark Weber. That was good enough to be world champion. Now that Renault power is lagging and Weber is gone, Vettel has been exposed. THAT's why he's being forced out of Red Bull. If I could choose any two drivers on the track, it would be Lewis and Fernando. My third choice would be Bottas.

I love Kimi and in a competitive car, he can be great.

I sincerely didn't see this coming. Probably Ferrari then his destination. Or Mclaren.

    TFH firmly in place? ;)

He has absolutely not been "forced out".

I don't like the way he handles himself on track.

It looks like a desperate move decided in frustration.

Agreed on pretty much all counts. Bad news for Ferrari if Vettel is joining them. I expect Kimi will outperform him, though, so good news for Kimi.

If Alonso is going, I'd much rather see Bottas, Magnussen, or Ricciardo than Vettel.

You think Kimi, who was regularly outperformed by Massa, and who has been KILLED by Alonso, will outperform Vettel?

I think Seb deserves more credit then you guys are giving him. He certainly isn't Fred, but I wouldn't snub my nose at a 4 time World Champion.

Yes. And not because Kimi is great, but because IMO Vettel's success was based on having far and away the best car over the past four seasons. Alonso and Hamilton are IMO by far the best drivers on the grid today. I'd put Kimi a step above Vettel, but for both of them I think it'll come down to which one the car suits the best.

this should be intresting. could it be possible that Ferrari have both vettel and fred?
or more than likely one of them goes to McLaren.
either way fred and vettel at Ferrari spells trouble to me.
just look at Mercedes at the moment.

What is the use of the "Ferrari Academy" if the Scuderia doesn't promote its understudies in its F1 team?

Assuming that Vettel will be with Ferrari next year, the 3 last drivers joining the squad have been previous WDC, but does that bring much result to Maranello?

Chances are that next year 3 teams will have all the 6 world champions on the grid

    :)

Hopefully I'll be wrong. I just haven't seen much that impressed me from Vettel. He initially had a tough time beating Webber, and in that case a lot of Vettel's success came down to Webber screwing up. And Ricciardo has beaten Seb soundly this year. Given that Ricciardo marginally at best beat JEV last year, JEV might very well be beating Seb this year had he been given the RB drive.

Seb had the best car on the grid for 4 years and did well. Now he doesn't have the best car, and I don't see him dragging it to the top. As I said, hopefully he'll prove me wrong, and/or hopefully he'll get a car that suits him next year. Unlike Alonso and Hamilton, he doesn't seem to have the ability to adapt to whatever car he's in and get the most from it. Nor does Kimi. Which is why I think Ferrari could be in big trouble next year if that's their driver lineup.

How quickly we forget his first win in a driving rain storm at Monza in 2008 with a back marker sub RB team. That drive was nothing short of amazing. Yes, he has struggled this year with the new RB package, but to think that he was "Exposed" is an uninformed statement. The fastest car isn't guaranteed a World Championship, but with a top driver, it is.

Without a doubt that was a great drive. That said, given the RB of the past 4 years, I'd suggest that a large % of the current drivers would have won the championship had they had that car. I think Seb is a good driver, but not a great one. As I said, I hope I'm wrong if he's coming to Ferrari.

Alonzo was leaving no matter what. Seb is the best replacement out there. Ferrari is no doubt celebrating their new found replacement.
