Personally I would have liked to see them get Hamilton, but that would be a stupid move for Hamilton to make. Otherwise, instead of Vettel, I'd have rather seen them go for Bottas, Ricciardo, possibly even Magnussen. Not saying that any of those guys are available, I have no idea if they are or not.

"Alonso was not on Red Bull short list

Alonso was not on Red Bull short list | Planet F1 | Formula One | News, Standings, Results, Features, Video

Fernando is a wonderful driver, but our philosophy and policy is to invest inwardly, invest in youth and give youngsters a chance."

Red Bull invests in new talents and promote them in their organisation: 8 titles recently.

Ferrari recruits former world champions and don't promote drivers from its Academy; no recent success with that method.

Mark, who was highly regarded, and beat everyone of this teammates prior to Vettel. Webber was no pushover.

Let's be honest, no one could have won in any of the recent Ferraris. Alonso has done exceptionally well in a dog. If the car is not there, no driver can win it all with it.

    Very true.
Ferrari wastes its time rearranging the driver line up, when it's really the technical team that is lacking.

I'm concerned about Hami and his race craft. He's quick, but has shown in the past he lacks bringing the car home... I will say this year, he has done a much better job with managing his races... But his only championship was won by one point and he threw another one away. Now what was that you said about a driver with the fastest car? :)

If Ferrari can't win with Alonso they ain't gonna win with Vettel either. I think Ricciardo might have put a scare into Vettel. Not only did he get beat he got mopped up badly this year. I'd love to see Alonso stay and Vettel join but that's not likely. Alonso to McLaren is the only move that makes sense.

With Vettel gone and Newey retired, I would not be surprised to see Horner as team principal at Ferrari in a near future.

I would have responded similarly if you told me in 2008 that Fernando Alonso would be stepping down from a seat at Ferrari to go back to McLaren....

If that happens we'd all be well advised to watch out for flying pigs.

Personally speaking I'd have preferred to see Hamilton at Ferrari than Vettel as I rate him as the better driver.

It's all very well people stating that Vettel's a 4 times WDC, but those WDC's haven't helped him much this season have they?

IF Seb ends up at Ferrari he's dumber than I thought.
This years RB is better than the Ferrari. There's no reason to see that change next year.

Now that the dam's cracked we should see more pieces fall into place.

    Agreed.

The Macca has better prospects though. Not a lock with Honda but there's a real possibility.

    New rumor: Seb to Macca.

I pitched that idea earlier, and was shot down..... Seems everyone here at least is convinced he's heading to Maranello.

And, despite the apparent turmoil there, I'm a long way from convinced Uncle Ron can get Woking back on track faster than Ferrari.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    :p

Indeed. Only a fool would do so.

But I remain hopeful Ferrari can right the ship faster.....
