I posted yesterday that Sebastian is replacing Alonso at Ferrari but you doubted it. Alonso signed at McLaren, that's for sure.
You're probably right. But nothing is confirmed yet..... I was certainly *very* surprised that Seb's moving. "This is why we watch".
I agree. The first part of the year Hamilton seemed solid, but then went through a time where he was making mistakes. Seems like he's back on track now, but if things don't go his way and Nico gets the edge I think Lewis will push too much and start making mistakes again. That said, if you put all of the current drivers in identical, completely equal cars, and had to bet on one to win, Lewis would probably be my pick. If I had to bet on one driver in those cars for the whole season, it would be Alonso.
Vettel has a contract clause that he can leave RBR, if he is not as good as third in WDC at 30. September. So everything heated up in the last 3 Weeks. Because he was 15 years at Red Bull he was not sure if it's right to go this year or to wait till next year if his contract expired. That' s the reason, why I stated likely this year, at least next year. He was in talks with Domenicali last winter for 2016. After the split with Alonso last month the offer was modified. On wednesday Ferrari and Alonso discussed his departure from the scuderia. So everything came in motion and Seb told RBR yesterday that he is leaving RBR in reference to the contract clause
If Vettel went to McLaren, then Alonso would have to be staying at Ferrari as there are no other prime seats available, but there's far too much talk of Alonso not being totally happy at Ferrari for that to happen now as I see it. When it comes to drivers and which team they'll be with in the future, nothing stays secret for long in F1, and so far there's been no mention of Vettel being in McLaren's sights, it's all been about McLaren wanting Alonso. (I'd love the reality to be that Alonso has been spreading false rumours about being unhappy at Ferrari to make all the press to jump to the wrong conclusion about a move to McLaren, but that seems about as likely as Ferrari naming Myself as a driver for next year!) If the rumours are correct and Vettel goes to Ferrari, should he find himself in a similar situation as Alonso has found himself there (with a car that just cannot challenge for the WDC), then I can see Vettel becoming seriously disillusioned with F1!
I doubt that he'll do as well as Alonso did this year if the car is still second rate. I'll miss seeing Ferrari make Q2
Redbull has talked about having to build there own power units I can see a time when someone asks the 300 million dollar question why are we in f1 and who many skiers and skydivers can we sponsor With that money
There has been talk about RB taking engine building 'in-house' but like you I think RB are spreading their icing thinner and thinner with each passing year. A dinner plate can only hold so much and RB is not what it was 10yrs ago in regards to their market share/dominance.
Red Bull have announced recently this season that they have no serious intentions of building their own engines as the costs would be just too high (even for them), and that they are to have an even closer relationship with Renault in order to have a more bespoke engine that suits their chassis better. Let's not forget either that skiers and skydivers do bring Red Bull anything like the prestige that F1 does!
It's well know that redbull has been trying to sell space on there car . Toro bull team has been for sale for years the only team with along term plan in f1 is ferrari . Impo honda will pull the plug in three years Mom's and Facebook people hate cars
I will be ecstatic if Alonso leaves Ferrari for Mclaren, PROVIDING it fixes the inane pit strategy Ferrari runs their #2 car providing Alonso doesn't DNF. Over and over they screw whoever isn't Alonso on pit strategy, often, to block, or cover some one Alonso might race against later. I was hoping Kvat would take Alonso's seat, bout now that Kvay is confirmed at RBR, that hope is gone. Hopefully, Honda's money pulls Alonso to Mclaren, and opens the Ferrari seat for someone that isn't as polarizing in team strategy, but instead, can focus on helping build the team. I'm really hoping Seb isn't taking Kimi's seat. I would be ok with Seb taking Alonso's place, but would much rather see a young gun without a championship take Alonso's spot.
IMO they will Not pull the plug - They pulled the plug last time because of the huge recession and massive uncertainty.Lots of Big companies got scared back then. But Honda now realize they overreacted only to see the team they left behind won WDC as Brawn That is also why I believe Brawn is going to McLaren at which point Ron will take a back seat role and focus on the car manufacturing side. This all is guess work on my part & IMHO
Sebastian Vettel confirms why he is to leave Red Bull: "To be honest, I can live with the car not being able to challenge for race wins, let alone Championships, but the reality is that I'm just sick of the taste of Red Bull! I mean, I've had 15 years of the stuff and now, just the smell of it now makes Me start to wretch! I'm hoping that by going to another team then I'll no longer have to drink that s:censored:t!" When asked about the advantages of driving for Ferrari compared to Red Bull: "You don't have to drink Red Bull and you get a better company car!" (NOTE: Some of this post may not be strictly true! )
I don't know how some people still think Fred is going to be at ferrari . If ferrari wanted Fred they could go to media center and say we offered FA a contact but Noone at the new ferrari have ever said they wanted Fred
I know i had that crap one time and couldn't decide if I needed wings and after missing my beauty sleep I Decided I didn't need wings
After turn one tomorrow there might be a seat coming open at AMG MERCEDES the media center might not have the bandwidth if LH gets beat to.turn one
The BBC have just asked Vettel what it means to him to be a Ferrari driver next season and Vettel response was that he cannot confirm anything about next season at this moment in time except that he will still be in F1! (It has to be noted that he was trying (badly!), to stifle a smile as he responded to the question!)
The way I see it the two noobs in charge though I'd be a good idea to replace Kimi with Vettel, gave him a contract and did not tell Alonso. Fernando didn't like it and here we are. Taking Vettel over Alonso is a huge mistake, we just saw how qualifying turned out. Mattiacci probably thinks having four world titles automatically makes him the best driver out there.
