Ferrari would never push a driver of his talent.
    Just ask Michael.

Vettel is his own manager, so if he made the personal decision to leave RB, there would be nobody to delay his announcement to Horner. There are many more people involved with Alonso (from managers to sponsors) that will have to be satisfied with an ultimate contract agreement, which is probably why the official announcement has not yet been made.

I agree. But more than that, I think they made him jump, calling his bluff of leaving if they didn't sign a big(er) dollar extension. Hence his "my future is in Ferrari's hands."

He's a great driver but, as we've seen, even a great driver can't win with a turd car. But if the car is great, any lowly former WDC driver can win. So why put up with the negative energy of Alonso and focus on making a great car instead.

I can't see why he would have chosen McLaren - who are nowhere with the best engine - if the choice was his.

I can tell you now, if I would have been in the same position as Hamilton was in, I would have done exactly the same thing, luckily I'am my own boss..;)

I respect Hamilton even more for his actions that day.

Change the record for crying out loud! - You're wearing the groove out of that one!

Is that really the best criticism of Alonso you can come up with? - He's not great at driving in the rain?

Wow! - You really have a strange way of assessing how good a driver is!

Let's assess just how $#!t Alonso has been so far in his time at Ferrari:

2010: 2nd in the WDC - 4pts behind Vettel (who had a far better car than Alonso!)
    2011: 4th in the WDC
2012: 2nd in the WDC - 3pts behind Vettel (who had a far better car than Alonso!)
2013: 2nd in the WDC - behind Vettel (who had a far better car than Alonso!)
2014: Currently 4th in a car that is seriously lacking performance!

In 3 out of 5 seasons, Alonso was the best of the rest against Vettel who had a far, far superior car!

You rejoice and celebrate the (possible), loss of Alonso from Ferrari if you want to, but I'll be more realistic about it and mourn the (possible), loss of one of the truly great and exciting drivers in F1 history from the Scuderia!

He did what was best for himself, and as it turned out, it was what was best for the team overall (at the time though there was no way he knew that!).

TBH, I felt that Mercedes were wrong to send him that team order anyway! - Especially in light of their previous statements about allowing their drivers to race!

But it is still a fact that, rightly or wrongly, the team sent him a simple, direct team order to allow Rosberg through (with no: "if this happens or that happens" attached to it), and he decided not to comply with it (he was very clever about it, stating that if Rosberg got right behind him then he'd allow him through - And then making sure he went fast enough so Rosberg could not get right behind him), but he still failed to comply with the original team order, and that's the point I'm making!

That implies Michael Schumacher isn't a great driver. From 2001 to 2004 the Ferrari was ways ahead of the rest so every average driver would have won the WDC as related to Sebastians 4 WDC's. In 2001 David Coulthard scored 2nd in WDC so he was better than Michael because his car was crap compared to the Ferrari.
Same with Kimi in 2003. He was 2 Points behind Michael.

Maybe Fernando is the best driver on the grid. But he is also the driver who lost the WDC in 2010 struggling to overtake Petrov in a Renault.
