It's alarming to see that motorsport is becoming like gymnastic where athletes start competing very young and finish their career in their mid 20s.

By comparison, Graham had never driven a car by the age of 24, but went on to win 2 WDCs in his long career.

As for Fangio, he started in GP at 38 y.o. and retired at 48 y.o. after winning 5 WDCs.

I do not approve of the new tendency ...

    Well WE wouldn't would we?
    ;)

At least the East Germans are no longer "producing" athletes.

The real problem with f1 is only a few teams Have the resources to run a front running team and pay drivers what they want .Now only ferrari and amg have the money to pay big money . Kimi didn't get paid by lotus last year and this year one of the guys has 20 million of citgo money to buy his seat .

Webber tried and failed to do the same thing while knowing Vettel was having KERS problems.

The only KERS problems Vettel had were in his head

Good response. Contradictory evidence to your irrational hatred of Vettel? Make up something that makes no sense.

oh, like the "cracked" chassis he "thought" he had only to get clobbered by Webber at the next race (Silverstone) who used the said suspect chassis

And then Webber also had to use the older nose cone when Vettel smashed the new one on his car

Yes I don't like Vettel but his mind plays games with himself at times when he gets pressure put on him...... don't want him at Ferrari.

I think you better check more posts before you slag me off as it seems you're the one throwing suppositions around with fact missing

I'm curious who this mental juggurnaut is that doesn't feel pressure?

Last I knew despite pressure Vettel still won albeit childish at times. Alonso/Ham/Web etc... have failed in similar circumstances and Have shown extremely poor judgment and tact when the burner is turned up under them as well. No one is immune at this stage when their head is filled with grandeur. Ricci will soon follow in these footsteps, which will be sad but not surprising.

I agree with all bar the last statement, I think Dan will be fine UNTIL he wins a WDC, then he may go to the dark side ..... would be a shame as he has been one of the joys of F1 lately along with Bottas and Kvyat

    +1 to all.

I guess a WDC changes most of them to a degree. Understandable I suppose. Would be nice to think he (or the other guys you mention) won't "lose it" if they're successful. FWIW, from the little I've seen I'd add young Max to that list too.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Button is a nice exception of a WDC going to your head, and maybe he realizes how fortunate he was to win. Ricci, Bottas, Button, and Phil seam to be the "good" guys to me.
