The one schumi and 5 others was Brazilian Grand Prix the fia needs to do some thing . What I don't understand is the guys are running around to get to pits under safety car period the fia needs to run safety car period like round track in United States and close the pits as soon as the safety car period light comes on

I'm thinking energy absorption fenders will be mandated on the removal tractors and they'll adopt a new procedure to protect marshals although we'll likely (and hopefully) never witness a similar accident.

Wishing Jules a speedy recovery. Positive thoughts.

I have alway wondered why the fork lifts do not have all round bumpers, similar to what some go karts to but specialy designed for the craft.

I guess Ferrari's do melt in the rain.

And a more serious note ---

Best of luck to Bianchi. We are all pulling for a quick and complete recovery.

I doubt there is footage. But there are still fotos. They actually didn't look that bad. He sits in an intact cockpit with his helmet on. But as we all know, that's misleading when it comes to brain trauma.

Because it's a local yellow. The circuit is green after and prior to that area.

Why weren't they using a modern crane instead of Mike Mulligan the steam shovel?

What difference would a 'modern crane' make? JCB's are a common sight around the various curcuits of the calendar.

Dino I noticed you deleted your comment, but the marshall waving the green flag was well beyond the crash site, where there was no immediate danger. The circuit was clear from that point onwards.

    Yea I got that.
It just looked very odd that at the acual scene of the crash it's self the green flag was waving.
    But yes I understand.

+1 to all. (As always with you ;))

Unfortunately, it just continues to show that no matter what they do, accidents, very occasionally bad ones, will always be a possibility.

And marshals, generally unpaid volunteers, will always continue to put their own lives at risk if they think they can help. The unsung hero's as I said above. Long may it continue!

    Get well soon Jules,
    Ian

I agree, on the tv it did look a little odd - But I'm certain it was the camera angle looking 'up' the track to the first station beyond the incident.

It really didn't look that bad on the front, and when I first saw it, but this picture, http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143429889-post228.html , explains the reality. The whole rear section is destroyed and if you compare the portion behind the driver on the pic above with this one, http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143429378-post42.html , you can clearly see the power of the impact.

Glad to hear he is doing okay.

BTW: Drama here is funny at times. This appears to be a freak accident. Local yellows and car removal with cars on the track happens on all the time.

Reminds me of a documentary I watched on UA Flight 232 where the guy said "There was nothing in the book for this because this technically does not happen/exist". This was spoken with regards to flying a plane with zero hydraulic pressure with odds of like 1 in 100 million of it happening.

I think there will be no official footage...But I would be surprised if none of the spectators had its camera by hand when they recovered the car of Sutil. So depending on the further development one might try to sell that to some medias or get some extra clicks on youtube..Unfortunately as I do not think that will help anyone

What does not look good on the pictures is the area behind his head with the air intake, that is all gone! So one can imagine the force of the impact in that area and on the helmet...Let´s hope the best

The whole handling of the situation today needs review from the decision to leave the race start time unchanged through to the ridiculous amount of laps behind the safety car at the start through to the poor decision not to deploy the safety car when Sutil went off at the end. The whole thing was handled badly, but ultimately race control has ended up with blood on its hands thanks to poor judgement executed too slowly and ultimately poorly. A bad day for F1.

BBC says the French reports of him breathing on his own appear in-accurate and they seek clarification. That is the latest from BBC sport over 2 hours+ ago.

Any word on his current condition as of now? Did he regain consciousness? Although with head trauma, I don't think he'll be out of the woods until at least a day or 2 more, no? Best wishes for his recovery.

Have there been any "official" updates since the FIA notice? I haven't seen any mentions of a creditable source for the hospital info...
