so the truck arrived this morning to pick up the f40, and the 512tr, to go to bob houghton's. the 512tr started up like a charm as usual (btw, best ferrari i have ever owned. wonderful wednesday car that has been as faithful as a good friend); the f40 had a dead battery. so we got the booster pack out and started her up and let it run for about 15 minutes. then i got ready to put the f40 onto the truck, so i unhooked the booster pack, closed the lid and got in. then it died. it would not restart. it would not restart with the booster, or a boost from my suv, there wasnt even that clicking sound - nothing, dead. so then we decided to just push it onto the truck (wasnt fun, but it worked and we got it done). so next week it will arrive at houghtons and they will figure it out.

my guess is that the battery is somehow shot and wont take a charge anymore.

    anybody else?

Battery, starter or alternator... Nothing else, but just a pain.

no. the location i keep the f40 in does not easily lend itself to that. i have in the past managed to top up the battery every so often, but really did not expect it to be flat this time. it was my fault entirely.

the odd part was the lack of clicking when we tried to re-start it. there was juice, so i think that starter may be knackered.

    Probably battery issue !

Once I started using the trickle chargers my battery issues went down significantly.

Not sure how it is a battery? If you are boosting it the juice is going directly to the starter from the boosting battery.

Diodes in alternator could also be shot causing the system to not charge, and run completely off the battery until the voltages drops below 10 (where the car will shut off).

If you have had no problems with vehicle before this incident then I would say it is more than likely the battery. Did you happen to check voltage of battery while car was running without jumper box?

we did not have time to check out the battery etc (driver needed to get moving), but i think you are likely right about the diodes since when i was connected to the suv, there should have been enough juice to start no matter what. OR, does a battery below 10 not allow the contributing booster to get through as easily?

i will forward all this to houghtons and maybe save them a little time.
