Yes. Same gearbox. Different gear selector mechanism on the outside, different thrust bearing and support flange though..

Wouldn't he need also to get the TCU and wiring harness, and also reprogram the engine ECU to communicate with the TCU?

If there is simply something mechanical that is wrong with the box.. i.e. trashed synchro, a rock cracked the case with a chunk missing, etc. you could just swap it out.

But I agree I'd like to know WHY the box died.

Vince- No, he is just swapping the transaxle, not changing to F1. Transaxles are identical for F1 and three pedals Ferraris.

Because there is a language difference here I just want to clarify:
    1) What were the symptoms? What was it doing?
    2) The car has 3 pedals and is not an F1 car
    3) You're sure its not a problem with the clutch or the gear shifter?

If you are sure about all the above... The automatic transmission can be changed with manual one. Below circled in red is the gear shift actuator. Unbolt the one from your car and put it here on the new transmission. In blue, F1 cars have a sensor and at the bleed block the high pressure braided line can both be removed. The aluminum bracket by the red can also be removed IIRC.

The real question, is there a bearing inside the transmission that is bad? Are the synchros bad? Is is one of the parts inside that looks like this....

Finally.. if/when you replace your clutch with the transmssion.. (are you sure its not the clutch giving you issues?) Make sure you use a Manual (3-pedal) bearing as circled here. F1 bearings are different.

Bearing is the same. Support flange is the same.

    Seals are different.
