I wonder how this would look on a 355? If would need a Yellow center w/ horse. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting. Didn't Toda (who are the only ones really hotrodding these motors to my knowledge) say that the stock airboxes with K&N filters were best for performance even compared to the Gruppe-M?
Old Photos. The steering wheel is probably the best mod I've done and is easily reversed... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The 2.7 setup looks hard to beat, I have to agree. The 5.2 setup doesn't look as "straight through" with it merging into one MAF. Maybe that's where the gains are with the gruppe M?
Hey Pete - thank you and thank you for the photo shop - it helps! Questions: 1) Are all momo wheels available with the Ferrari center cap? 2) How did you handle the removal of the airbag - meaning how are you electrically dealing with this to not get error codes? I'm somewhat of a purist but I would like another wheel as long as the original can go back on at any time with no problems. I'd really like to find a wheel that suites the interior well and looks like it was meant to be. And, the momo's are reasonable in cost.
1) Make sure you order yourself a momo wheel adapter, spacer, and the longer bolts so that everything fits together correctly. Its literally a 10 minute job if that. Also, your going to need a seperate "Ferrari" horn button that you can get just about anywhere. 2) I put a transister in the wiring loom that fools the ecu into thinking there is still a functional airbag there so it doesnt throw any lights. But, you could go the very simple route and just remove the bulb for the airbag warning light from the cluster. I've switched steering wheels on almost every car I've had and its almost ALWAYS the single best upgrade I have made as its the part of the car you interact with the most on every single drive... I just emailed Momo and they don't offer Ferrari horn buttons - Looks like the F Police strike again!! Pete, please share your fake out circuit - I'm not going to pull the bulb because if I put it back, I would need the circuit reset by a dealer.
I will get in touch with my friend who does all my electrical stuff and ask him for a more detailed explanation of what he did to get rid of the airbag warning light. unfortunately, calling myself a novice when it comes to electrical/electronics is greatly overstating my knowledge. Im pretty sure you can grab a Ferrari Horn button from Ebay.... but they are around $75 here is one... eBay item number: 160562424051
Here are some of the modifications I have done: Larger front and back sway bars Front back Hyperco 2.5 coilovers (350 lbs front and 450 lbs rear) Custom two can light weight exhaust Performance chip 18 Challenge wheels A/C deleted Aluminum light weight alternator belt tensioner Light weight battery (Anti gravity ~5lbs) Big brake 355x32 front and back based on StopTech Trophy calipers powder coated yellow. Carbon fiber passenger foot rest Aluminum pedals Front diffuser 320mm steering wheel Numeric gear indicator Darken rear lights MAF screens removed
What does removing the screens from the MAF do?? Wouldn't that allow more dirt, etc, to pass over the sensor??
