Kudos to you for being a mag-racer extraordinaire. "I like the results I like - the rest are garbage, of course." >8^) ER
I like the results more than you and of course the rest are garbage, 918 is ahead even with 3 British h2h, 2-1 for 918!!
23s to 300 kph is crazy slow. 650S did it this fast in the latest Sportauto test, so there must have been something terribly wrong with Autocar's first test. 21s to 200 mph sounds pretty accurate, since the car takes about 4s from 300 to 320 kph based another P1 acceleration video.
The white wp with the Salzburg stripes, I've seen it somewhere before I think it's a factory car if I'm not mistaken
Thanks chaps. Oh well, fair enough. No one of the Porsche fan-boys questioned Autocar's initial test results for the P1, but now that the 918 is the new "victim", some are going nuts.
This is why hanging your every argument on magazine results is dumb. It's also why I cancelled all my subscriptions a couple of decades ago. >8^) ER
jim i know this is a few pages back and i havent read up to the last page yet, but could you offer me some more info about this? id love to come down to see the cars in person!
Thanks for the info. Are you seeing 918 accelerate faster than P1 at high speeds, like 150 mph+ ? That would be very surprising if true and contrary to everything I know about these cars.
Yes, and remember you will see that at youtube very soon, I am 100% sure about 918 because I saw the 918 victory at h2h versus P1, Ok we will see, Auto Car always show video for h2h tests, but this time I don't think so...
here we go: https://www.nitroflare.com/view/4B92D164920A248/autocar-uk-8-october-2014.pdf _____________________ hootan, are u iranian?!
30s to 200mph seems wrong, however, the 918 loses 125hp after 265kph. How fast can a 762hp, heavier car go from 265 - 320kph? Surely not as quick as a 903hp, lighter, RWD car...
Serious question, why does the 918 decouple the front engine after 265, I know it has been discussed somewhere but I seem to have forgotten where and the reason it does that
Believe it is an RPM issue with the "motor". Yes - from C&D: "...but the motor on the 918's front axle hits its 16,000-rpm redline and disengages at 165 mph..." >8^) ER
You fail to mention the SS in that test was, just like the p1, also 4s or so off its claimed 0-300 times. Most likely the test numbers were subject to some unideal conditions. If AC did the 918 test it would have said, "if we had a little more testing room, we might have been able to hit 200mph and dethrone the veyrons 29.5s zero-to-200mph time"
