is the MY99 355F1 the same is in the MY99360?
thx F1moving....yeah I knew about the pump upgrade on the 360...... so everything else is pretty much the same?
Go to Ricambi and review the P/N's for each sytem - that will tell you exactly what the differences are.
I have only read that there were minor updates/changes. I think the main system is pretty much the same. He's talking about a 99.
The 360 has drive by wire and the 355 doesn't, so even if a lot of the parts are the same, the operation isn't (360 auto blips throttle on downshift).
I've now had my 355F1 for three years, and have driven it enough to know it's behaviour pretty well. One of these days I'm going to post a video or soundclip of me downshifting in it, because if it DOESN'T blip the throttle during downshift then I'd love to know what it IS doing. It sure sounds like it to everyone who has been in it.
Well mine must have been defective, as it never blipped anything, and the throttle is mechanical, so I am not seeing how it is even possible. Manually blipping on downshifts was the best part of the 355F1 box. I think anyone that believes it is blipping is simply hearing the clutch engage and bring the motor up to match output shaft speed. It's a faster engagement in sport mode. In standard mode the clutch slip made me cringe. It's no wonder some people's clutches burn out fast.
J. You bring up a good point. If it's not blipping, than I'm really confused because I always down shift completely at a stop and it would not be the motor - output shaft match in every gear on the way down.
If you want to hear something great.Go on the hwy drive at about 100km or 60mph in auto mode in 6th gear, nail the throttle. It will blip the throttle and down shift two gears.
I think J is correct. I just scanned the WSM and I see no way the system can be blipping. I think we are all hearing what J describes and think it's a blip. I don't want to believe that, but I cannot find any connection to the throttle other than feedback (input) signals.
About the only thing the same is they are both made by Magnetti Marelli. They are really quite different. The idle air stepper motors open on down shifting but are totally inadequate for increasing RPM in any meaningful way. There is no reason not to do it manually with the throttle.
Dave Do what i said in post#16 you will hear it blip the throttle trust me. I think it works off the TPS
See Brian's post - I was hoping he would chime in. Brian, where are these stepper motors located? As I said, I could not find any link to the throttle in the WSM
I wish there were some way to record the rev's while driving, although there is some sound at shift I don't think it's increasing revs before the next gear is engaged.
Michael, I too thought it was blipping. But, what I'm telling you is I cannot find a single connection to the throttle other than the gas pedal. See what Brian posted - that makes the best sense.
