Greetings from Alberta! I did not bring a car, but thoroughly enjoyed the event as a spectator. Pulling off an event like this is not easy, especially with the numbers almost tripling at the 11th hour. Kudos to everyone who organized this event!

I ran into a lot of people, even from my own home town, so it was great to see everyone again.

About 160 pics from the event can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.978648895494451.1073741868.403086916383988&type=1

Marcel, is the 166 barchetta pictured Luigi Chineti's actual 1948 race winner. I've a special feeling for that car, bearing race #22 which was the number with which I raced my little TR3 many years ago!

0008 M is the 1949 Le Mans winner with Chinetti-Selsdon. The current owner purchased it in June 1996.

Art, I believe the complaints turn around the invitations that induced, one might write enticed, Ferrari owners to come with their cars, to be among the hoped-for 1000 Ferraris and actually to be participants to a much greater degree than happened.

    To Joe Adams,
Thanks for all the hard work. I really appreciated the event. The collection of rare Ferraris and the presentation on Rodeo was an impressive site. A once in a lifetime gathering. I felt privileged to be witness to this.
Sure there were small glitches (i.e.-The Grove and parade info), but nothing could spoil the wonderful day with so many special cars and friends all in one place.
Your letter explaining some of the back story is appreciated. Many people have no idea what it is like to put together an event. Even a small event takes a lot of work. An event of this magnitude must have been crazy.
I had a great time. Thank You.
    Cheers, Steve

There are two perceptions of this event. If you came without your Ferrari you saw great cars for free. if you came with your Ferrari so FNA or FCA can claim 1,000 Ferrari's, and were led to believe that you would be treated better than those that did not drive or ship their cars to the event, then it was a big disappointment.

The event on Rodeo with all the cool cars was truly beautiful. I just wished that I came in my DD instead of the Ferrari.

Bingo. 100s of posts condensed into one sentence. Thank you! I also believe the angst is directly proportional to the square of the distance traveled. Had I simply driven from SoCal someplace, it might have just been another outing and home by lunch. However, from SF, Seattle, or even farther, the "just brush it off and move on" is a little more difficult. Also, if I had driven the F40 instead of the 550 to be part of the "historic parade", I'd still be on the ceiling.

Events are tough to put together and I still applaude those who worked hard to put something together that I, myself, did not volunteer to help with. i.e., my angst was around the situation, not the people.

I think this sums it up.

At some point a email could have gone out saying the parade would not be possible and if people still wanted to bring their Ferrari and park in a garage to try to set a record they could have decided for themselves.

The congested, bumpy streets of LA and BH are not where I would chose to take a pleasure drive in my Ferrari, so there was some sacrifice on the part of even local people who brought their cars.

It was a wonderful event, but if you can see the same rare cars on Rodeo whether you bring your Fcar or DD, why bring the Fcar?

But I applaud those who did all this hard work. Sounds to me like FNA sort of screwed the FCA over.

Everyone knows Ferraris and Prius don't mix... from the group Ferrari crash in Japan where a Prius was in the mix. JK
