Or on the planet that I live on they take off with some other poor unsuspecting slob after they've cleaned out #1 slob, poison the mind of the kids against the guy that paid for and raised them while working 60+ hours per week in a job they hate or are getting to hate.

And Michael, I do not look 10 years older than I really am ..... I look 20 years older :(

I'm going over to see one of my girls from marriage one while in Sydney next week .... the ex will ask about the Satan name for sure, to which I will reply "you'll see plenty of these where you're going" :p

Are you talking about the big (30cm) wheel that is next to the seat ?

That was the trim wheel I never got a good hand on, .... a bit like how I taxi a 172 .... all over the place :)

While that and wrxmike's scenarios do occur, I think that sadly the issues PSk raises are, far, far more common :( Even in modern society - go have a read about the ongoing "Gamergate" idiocy for an idea of how many young men still think today :(

I know that doesn't help if you're the one getting (metaphorically) screwed by an ex-wife or similar, but it's important not to assume the actions of one person reflect those of an entire gender!

(LOL at Pap, he gets the aircraft discussion out of the F1 thread only for this to happen...)

You are right, but for one small clarification. (You can call me KIAS on this subject if you want to).

The FW190 was without doubt the best piston-engined German fighter of WW2.

The best German fighter of WW2, and in fact by far the best fighter in the entire war, was the ME262.
If it wasn't for Hitler intervening half way through it's development and demanding that it have the ability to drop bombs rather than just being a pure fighter (thus necessitating a very significant re-design and costing many months of production), this aircraft could have genuinely changed the course of the war.
If it could have been produced in significant numbers, it was so superior to anything the Allies had that it may have brought the bombing offensive of Germany to a virtual halt.

There were of course, other problems - the engines were unreliable (due to the poor quality of metal being produced in Germany in the later stages of the war), and there wasnt time to train pilots properly before sending them into battle.

But, there is no doubt that it was the best fighter aircraft of the war, on any side.

PS. Pap, can we move the "girl" thread somewhere else?
In the interest of consistency, there must be a more appropriate place for those posts. :)

it wasn't the poor metal quality but rather lack of knowledge of metallurgy, that caused the engines to burn out. It took some years of research to sort the problem after the war.

But yes, Hitler was mad and ended up as the allies best weapon, that's why they gave up on killing him.

I'm sure she will and meantime we should all be supporting charities that educate young girls in emerging countries. Education is the best way out of poverty and out of the control of stupid men who believe in sky fairies.

e.g. 1 dollar a week will send a girl to school in Pakistan or India.

    OT:

All was good until you did the "sky fairies" thing.. that's usually reserved for those who take cheap shots at "religion", it's not "religion" thats the problem.. its the "stupid men" bit.

You also forgot "honour killings" and "female circumcision" off your horror list.. just by the accident of geography women can be subject to these monstrosities and need all the support we can muster to get out of the stone age they find themselves in.

Steve Waugh is a great supporter of creating schools for young girls on the sub-continent, one of the reasons the Indians have huge respect for him

You might be interested in the book "A Higher Call" which tells the true and remarkable story of Luftwaffe ace Franz Stigler and what happened when he came across a stricken B-17 over Germany. It also tells of his time in one of the Me 262 units and the issues they faced. It's a wonderful story and a fascinating insight into the life of a Luftwaffe ace during WW2.

    Thanks. I'll check that out.

That reminds me. It's nearly time for more cricket discussion.
Where should I start it? I don't know, the Ferrari market watch thread, maybe?

The FW 190 is being re- manufactured today by a company named Flug Werk 190. The ME262 is also being reproduced, it uses modern jet engines as the Junker Jumo engines weren't that reliable. Focke Wulf is still part of an aerospace corporation.
One of the Battle of Britain pilots I knew years ago, Alan Deere, who flew with 54 Sqdn out of Hornchurch had direct dealings with the 190 later in the war. He, once told me, Johnny Johnson, and other experienced pilots all agreed by the way, that when the 190 came on the scene the MkV spit was completely outclassed. However as the Mk VIII's and especially the MK IX's were delivered to squadrons and started to mix it up with the 190's the balance was restored to the Spitfire. In their opinion. I was not going to question the experience of an ex B of B veteran, 18 confirmed kills, DSO,DFC, Air Commodore (Ret), irrespective of how good I thought the 190 was.
The other incredible aeroplane that would have had a major impact IF, the powers that be weren't nuts, was the Horton 229 Bomber. 600 MPH impregnated carbon outer surface in 1944!
The first of the stealth aircraft.
The Americans rebuilt a full size version in recent years to test its radar signature, it was impressive.

Sorry, I just get so angry reading the endless tales of horror wrought by the mad mullahs.

They are evil men and their only power is derived from inciting impressionable men to hatred. And it is always men.

A UK woman lost her appeal in Pakistan this week, sentenced to death for blasphemy.
