Middleton Ferrari Crash Kills 2 « CBS Boston
As the weather gets cooler, PLEASE keep an eye on your tire temperature. When I went for a drive yesterday, my tires never got up to minimum operating temperature even after an hour of driving. In those conditions, your 458 will break loose -- particularly the rear tires -- much earlier than when your tires are properly warmed up. The electronic traction control is set for warmed up tires on dry pavement. It will not protect you if your tires are cold.
Good advice. This is horrible. And unfortunately or not, given the nature of things, we get to hear about every serious Ferrari crash. The fact that they seem infrequent speaks well for the cars and most drivers. Do drive within your limits on the public roads.
I can attest to this, was driving on the weekend and lost the back end pretty hard in sport mode, was cold out and car wasnt warm. Be careful folks.
The man Driving in MIddleton MA was arrested numerous times for OUI ---likely not sober when this occurred..
RIP Anyone notice one front light is still working? Really weird.. Poor guys, s**t can happen anytime, drive safe!
I wonder why the paper find it newsworthy that it is a Ferrari? Woud nobody read the article if it was a simple car crash?
You can rest assured that every major accident involving a Ferrari or other exotic will be covered by the media. So we get to see every one of them.
As I stated in the New England section... I knew the passenger. I was at a wedding with him in August. I believe he is 41 and leaves 2 daughters and his wife. He lived not too far from my shop here in Danvers Mass. I know the street well as I had a home nearby on Mill St. for 30 years and it's windy and slick when wet... Tragic...
Speed, not familiar with the car, and MAYBE alcohol??? I wonder if they died from smoke inhalation/fire as the passenger compartment does not look real bad? Prayers to the families
tragic...RIP i am wondering why the car burnt out? this is not supposed to happen, even in a bad accident like this, no? peter
It's essentially a winding country road with street lamps every few poles and runs from East St. to Liberty St. Maybe a couple of miles long if that. Intersected by a few side streets but probably not heavily travelled at night. I believe the driver was from the area but I can't confirm this. I would run my 246gt around there when traffic was light. It's all residential. Plenty of very large trees and field stone walls. I hope it wasn't alcohol related but when their are two doa it really doesn't matter...
Mike was one of the friendliest guys you could ever meet. He had a 430 but recently got the 458. RIP Mike, you will be missed.
