Keep telling yourself that . The double standards are hilarious , you really are a cult aren't you ? I was so accurate when I coined that phrase , it's a proper mclaren cult .
So the fact that the 918 lost in the wet track with its 4 wheel drive and LSD doesn't matter. Funny, and not double standard at all
Who said that it doesn't matter ? Who ? I congratulate the P1 in being quicker than the 918 on a wet Mira test circuit. However I'll caveatvthat with the tyres were not changed all day on the 918 test . They didn't feel the need to like mclaren et all .
Here's an interesting post from a private forum by a good friend , who is a good driver . He could have bought all 3 cars and decided to buy neither . I have erased the track name and the car owners information by request : I was in [ A TRACK NAME ] with a P1 and a LaF [. A DATE ] ...what amazed me is how the LaF was easier to drive very fast without the need of huge skills! The P1 was constantly in need of huge corrections, was coming out of fast corners all unbalanced and sideways... At the end of the main straight the P1 was struggling to get to 300 km/h while with the LaF we were constantly at 310/315 Km/h The P1 was suffering electric gremlins during every single lap with the power being limited for few seconds (ie open the throttle 100% with nothing happening) and then suddendly picking up again rpms I was already convinced that the LaF was the better car but after last weekend I'm 100% sure
McLaren P1 doing laps around Fiorano! Ferrari testing out weak competition lol, this is the same P1 that was at Monza few days ago and think its the only P1 in Italy, it was at Pagani factory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v_DJLKNXwA
you peeps keep on spreading mis-information, they are NOT track purpose tires...eesh man, get to know your car better (your 'forthcoming car). you will see what real 'track purpose' tires are. ridiculous, now the excuse is getting put on the tires... 'the Michelins are a lot better than the developed along with P1 Pirelli's'...blah blah blah...desperate and sad.... 918 doing the entire test on one set of tires could have something to do with the 'wet track' bs that Mac hopefuls are now clinging onto for life... yikes...
Stop. the Sport Cup 2's are NOT semi's. They don't have an update to the old 'Cup' track tires that directly compete with Trofeo R's yet.
word is getting around very quickly No surprise that LaF and 918 are much better resolved machines. but guess what the cultists say? "the driver just needs more skill to get maximum out of P1..." blah blah blah. it's getting ridiculous ridiculous. No..it's LUDICROUS! 918 is faster everywhere that matters... ie. Road, Track, and 0-180mph. Game set match. No nooooo. Cultists respond: P1 is faster than 918 in wet, so that means Porsche failed with all that technology. Nevermind an important detail: 918 ran ENTIRE test on one set of tires. You are right, the excuses, the constant shifting of goal posts, the give and take back BS...you can't make this stuff up! A cult full of excuses....yikes...
It does matter. BUT....Maybe the wet track portion was done after the car had been thrashed? It was on the same set of tires for everything. You will be taking delivery of 918 in not that long...but you continue to spend your time dissing it, and continue making excuses for your favorite P1. Lucky you, you have a wicked fast and fun P1, AND you will be taking delivery of an even faster car, a much higher quality car! And it costs less than your P1! Lucky you huh!
except those 'gremlin's have afflicted other P1 too... hmm...better take the 1mil 'lemon' back to the dealership... yeah,..,
Because P1 was faster in the wet :-D. And it's very often raining in UK, :-D :-D :-D. Autocar is the best. Steel consequency ha hah:-D. And people are arguing based on such publications. :-D They also summarized LaFerrari test? :-D i didnt know LaF contended. (Sorry for my English)
It's raining on p1's parade....more like a monsoon actually. I have no horse in this race so don't care who "wins" or "loses". They are all awesome cars.
ya.. at that price point having such issues is unacceptable but I am sure that McLaren would take care of it
Oh really? LOL! Michelin beg to differ: "Pilot Sport Cup 2. Homologated for the road, designed for the circuit. Conditions of Use MICHELIN Pilot Sport CUP 2 is a track tire (semi slick tire), which meets the legal requirements for use on the public highway. This tire has been specifically optimized for use on a dry track. On a wet track or road, where there is a risk of aquaplaning, adapt your driving style by reducing your speed and leaving the safety and driver assistance systems connected" MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 | Tyres | MICHELIN
Zeus fyi the 918 cups are not exactly the same compound as the "regular" cup 2 . Thaleybhave some Eco credentials regarding low rolling resistance and noise .
LaF and? 918. Those two cars are based on two different concepts/philosophies. LaFerrari is full breed drivers' car. RWD. Seemless integration of electric motor and active aero with no user input switches. Not mention P1 which is also different in concept. LaF is a class in its own. Special car for special occasions on road and track. And I'd like to see claimed 0-300kph run in 15.5 sec. Wouldnt be awesome? Porsche congrats.
Pilot SC2 are the most extreme road tyres now, Pirelli TrofeoR are 100% race tyres, also homologated for the road just to go from a track to another one. PZero corsa seem not so extreme as pilot sc2
