If you really are from an authorized dealer your easiest and cheapest source is Ferrari of North America.

But then if you were from an authorized dealer you would already know all that.

To give you any kind of a useful answer we really need to know what model or models you need it for.

If as your name suggests you want something for an F40 you are on your own. The Factory did make something but it was a terrible, useless POS.

 

Without giving too much away... I believe Carlo has somewhere around 10 Ferraris, including an F40, and is well-known in his area as a collector (and as the owner of a construction company).

Carlo, come on! Give us an updated list of your cars.

i am waiting durametric scan tool for my 360 f1 about 3 years but no new news.Now i need to buy one.which one can set PIS (chepest one )

my f1 tcu number is 176552

 

You have the earliest TCU so it is not possible to adjust the PIS to a pre-determined number.

I can say that the AE and Texa offerings won't even allow you to run the Auto-PIS properly so you'd be wasting your money there. I don't have any experience of the ST05 with this TCU so can't offer an opinion there.

If I need to work with one of these TCUs I prefer to use an SD2.

 

Thank you voicey for your help.Leonardo offers a new software,marconi software one car model for 5000$.They said you can do every thing that the machine leonardo does(20000$) but only for your F360 F1.Do you suggest that software

 

Good luck with that. Their support and follow through is sketchy at best.

 

I've not used the Leonardo machine much and certainly not with that TCU but there are a couple of people on here that may see this thread and can advise.

Support and Follow through, 2NA I do not know who you are as you do not own a Leonardo but for you to say that my service is sketchy with me personally having over 300 Leonardo clients that I look after is quite insulting...

Maybe ask someone who has posted here like tbakowsky who owns a Leonardo what our support and service is like, my telephone is on 24/7 and there is technical support From Italy. Sketchy, please....

Leonardo is a professional tool it is not a cheap tool, it has regular updates an technical support for those who are licensed or those who wish to stay licensed beyond the first year of ownership.

We have many Lamborghini dealerships such as Lamborghini of Montreal, Dallas, Houston, Miami just to name a few that use this tool everyday to service Ferrari & Maserati cars in the USA we even have Authorized Ferrari dealers in other countries using Leonardo products to service 458 and California's. Along with race tacks and driving facilities such as exotics racing at Las Vegas speedway where if cars cannot get repaired quickly there are loosing hundreds of dollars per hour..

This tool is the standard of the industry for Italian exotics for independent workshops now.

For instance 2014 Maserati Ghibli, QP software is already being used by many shops.

For those of you interested in a diagnostic tool, I invite you to our 2 day clinic/seminar in Las Vegas during SEMA week this year when we will also demonstrate our new flash tuning software. It would be a great place to use it hands on and talk to other owners who use the tool daily.

We have sold some one car model tools base on the Galileo platform which is what we typically use for our German car software program with prices ranging from 5,000 to 9,000 depending on the car model for hardware and software.

With respect to early TCU modules, the Leonardo does work on some of the early Marelli TCU units for setting the PIS but generally the PIS cannot be set like the 2nd and 3rd version TCU units. Brian S is 100% correct..I suggest an upgrade to a newer TCU which is what Ferrari dealerships were doing if I am not mistaken. Maybe Rifledriver can confirm that as he has serviced these cars for many years. I only work on the older Ferrari's here at my facility.

With Carlo's situation he needs to answer these questions which are important when looking for a tool.

Is there a warranty? if so how good is it and how long is it? what does it cover?
Will you be able to use an SD2 or SD3 without training (you have no idea how many people have called me after I have sold them an SD3 asking how to turn it on and get it to work)

Do you have time and patience to wait for software to load link to when working on a vehicle?
Can I call or e mail someone when I do not know how to do a procedure on a vehicle?

Can I take a new control module and replace it with out having to contact the dealer.
Can I program keys with it? How do I get codes when I need to replace a satellite nav system?

Can I do proxi programming?

In Carlo's case that he lives in Canada there are certain Canadian Federal laws where with programming is a big deal if you are importing car into Canada or even exporting them will the tool allow for those changes to be programmed?

These are just some of the basic questions when buying a tool. It seems to me that Carlo is needing a tester that will do what the dealer tool will do but I am also thinking he is going to want some support along with updates etc.

I have many car collectors around North America that use the Leonardo for is purpose. Especially if they have anything newer than a 599 as only the Leonardo offers the functions of the dealer tool for the 458 California FF & F12.

The tool is fast. easy to use and you will not find " not implemented yet" when you press a button on a Leonardo. We are current and it works!

La Ferrari software release date is in September for clients that require it. We are already on the 488 software, should be avail by the end of the year for those who require it. We also currently cover the new Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte Maserati models up to 2015 Along with Lamborghini up to 2015 models.

Most independent Mechanics and Technicians know I am pretty easy to get a hold of many even text me even when I am in Italy or in the UK and I can be reached. For anyone to say that service from Accinni or myself is sketchy is completely out of line and ignorant.

A SD 1 for my 2002 Maserati since I could not get a dealer to work on my car(salvage title). First day use my mechanic melted the board ribbon.no Garage Keepers insurance. And wanted to be paid for his time. X mechanic now

Hacan, I checked the site diagnostic tool for Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche and other high line automobiles seems to be working fine..

If you upgrade to the newer control unit you would be better off in the long run.. We have done the PIS adaptation on the first generation Marelli control unit with Leonardo with no problems and some with problems with the same part number, all I can think is maybe the internal software of that particular control module is different, I am not sure. I even texted Davide Accinni a few hours ago on a Sunday to ask him about his findings over the years and he said

Quote " Some first versions accept the setting on the PIS and some not. Usually the car answers in positive mode but does not have the value. The only mode is to try if save the value"

What he means by that is on the adaptation and coding page on the gearbox software when you press the PIS adaptation a screen will appear with a left and right hand side box with the number key pad below. What you normally do to set the PIS with the Leonardo is you read the configuration of the current setting by pressing the read button. and as an example it would appear as say 4.75 and you wanted to tighten up the shift point, you would manually enter say 4.65 then press the write button then turn the key off, wait 30 seconds turn the key back on re communicate with the TCU and the read the configuration and that new read number should now be 4.65.

On the values for a 360, the min is approx 4.0 and the max is approx 5.5

The personal use tool that we have been selling is based of the Galieo hardware tool which is smaller than the Leonardo, It will have the exact same software as the 360 Leonardo software for the whole vehicle, engine, gearbox, abs, airbags, suspension, instrument cluster, immobilizer etc.. with hardware cables and flight case for $7995.00. It also includes software updates and technical support for one year.

The nice option for the independent version this is that if you ever sell your car and want to get for instance a 430 you can contact us and we can swap out the 360 for the 430 software for a small fee.
