by default, there are no notifications, but when you change them there are various levels. sounds like you want to take them off instant.

    Longer Edit times.

Less feedback on For Sale forums. Too many opinions from non buyers.

I get that. There's something that triggers repeated notifications on unopened threads though.

It's not a big problem just a bit annoying.

I totally disagree. The classifieds on this site is a great place for newbes to look for cars. I find that there are more positive feedback posts than negative ones and sometimes the negative ones are very justified. I like to see what others that may have more experience regarding price and issues have to say. There are always other ways to sell a car where you can post ridiculous prices and make absurd statements without any feedback.

I'll say it again, separate 348 and 355 forums.

Feedback on incorrect parts or damage is one thing. Making snooty remarks about what things are worth and polluting someone's thread with arguments and opinions is stupid.

I agree with Drew. I like the fact that if I were to buy a car on Fchat other knowledgeable users have had an opportunity to weigh in, both positive and negative, and I can make a more informed decision. I see how sellers may find it annoying, but as a buyer it adds a lot of value. I would hate for someone to withhold valuable information about a car because they're afraid to be banned. As long as the negative comments are respectful (not always the case) I think they should be *encouraged*.

we plan to implement 348 and 355 tags like the 360/430 section works now. It has been about a month and I'm going to check back with 360/430 group to make sure they still like.

Which is fine. But if you're selling a car for 75,000 and someone comes along and goes "it's worth 55 glws" why even chime in? Then people argue over that for 3 pages. What's the point

Fair enough, Rob and I agree that it's not productive when classifieds digress into market value flame wars.

But if the same person says, "In my geographic market I've seen several cars like this trade in the $55k range" in a respectful way, that could actually be helpful. That's all I'm saying...keep it respectful but don't ban people for stating a value opinion. The Seller can respond with, "here's why my car is worth more" or "I'm not selling for less than $xx."

Ultimately, the market will determine what a car is worth. Plenty of examples of people trying to devalue a car only to see it sold for close to asking price a few weeks later. And vice versa - situations where the OP was overpricing the car and it didn't sell a year later. The market will always prevail but the benefit of Fchat is that both seller and buyer can at least hear all those perspectives. Just one humble opinion from a new member.

When are we getting the ability to upload larger resolution pics?

There are some users on here that probably weren't alive when 56k warning was a thing

Other forums allow for a thumbnail type setup so you could leave it at the 800x800 default on the page and it shows the size/reso for the user to decide.

    4k tv 0.8k fchat hmmm....

I agree. Especially with all the paying subscribers, bigger servers shouldn't be any problem. So many great pictures of great cars going half to waste because of resizing....

we might be able to look into that. Although 15 years ago the reasoning for 640, then 800 was bandwidth, now the reasoning would be over half of our activity on mobile devices vs. desktop. I'm also not sure what higher resolution offers users except the ones stealing photos. ;)

we certainly don't want to display pictures larger than 800 because of mobile limitations, but we could use the systems thumbnail functionality. I don't like small Thumbnails, but we could have 800 thumbnails that open up to higher resolution.

the other point is all other forums use IMG tags and then images aren't hosted on their forum, FerrariChat stores all images on our server so they're never lost, but because of that we have something like 500 GB just in photos. If we allowed high resolution then that number would get much larger.

One way to make it better is to put the date of the original thread next to the name of the person that originally started the thread. That way when you look at the list of all the threads, you can see when it was originally started.

If I go into a new thread I always look at first post for when it was started. Most important date is last activity and I think 2 dates showing in forum list would be distracting.
