Great responses. I failed to mention I'm in the south west USA. I have been looking at a 2013 coupe with a $50K discount from sticker with around 5,000 miles.

I would drive the car in the "winter". Just not sure what to do, maybe I should roll the dice and wait, but then I really like the option combination on this car.

what did the old poster say? Decisions, decision, decisions?

    I wouldn't bet on that...

My buddy just picked up a black 458, 14k miles, full carbon interior, 2-owner car for $179K. This is SF bay area.

Wow that is a great price. Private party sale or dealer?

That's a sweet deal, from a private party?

    Yes, private.

One of GTAutoconcept's clients also picked up a black one for $189K w only 5ishk on the odo. I'm not sure what options were on it.

The new turbo M will sound like a vacuum and lack the soul of the 458 sending people flocking back to greatness.

Hey I can dream, I just picked up my 2015! No regrets.

Thanks Ryan, I'm in the buyer's group right now and shopping around for 458's. I'm in the same boat as you and don't like to lose a lot of money on play toys. Looking to get into one for a few years before my kids hit college age so now is a good time for me to shop. Planning to keep the car a few years and this will be my first Ferrari so pretty excited. I found this thread very helpful, thanks guys!

Do good example spiders go for over sticker (list?) price in the USA?
I just paid a litttle under £200k for my 2014 spider, with all the specs one would wish for, 1800 miles on the clock - a saving on list of approx £50k
makes me feel like I got a bargain :0)

I am also in the market for a spider. I will not pay over sticker. Just have to keep looking and be patient. I wouldn't mind a speciale either... :)

Better than that - you can build one and buy one without buying any carbon fiber which has NO resale value (my dealer allowed it) for MSRP under $290K which is nicely optioned with full electric seats, back up camera, custom color leather interior everywhere, cruise control, electric mirrors, heat insulating windshield, satellite (now standard), painted calipers. Mine was $294K because I ordered the lift system which I now learn isn't necessary on 458 that was an extra $6617.

Don't care about resale. Will pick up used one sometime with full carbon fiber. The car looks bare and cheap without carbon fiber. I don't want electric seats, I want CF race seats. Don't need cruise control. To me, this car is more performance oriented and sporty rather than a luxury boulevard cruiser.

While my spec wouldn't match yours, I do agree easy to get what u want at under $300k.
CC, shields, calipers, led wheel with fiber, race seats, elec mirrors as a nice to have...for my driving that's all I need.
Maccarbon for the rest, remote exhaust switch, radar, Clearbra.
I might spend big on a custom blue paint job though...like medeteranio. (Spelling)

I will keep my 458 for awhile longer. I am not worried about depreciation. It's worth it to have the car to play with.

Agreed, toys are toys, not investments. You invest so you can have your toys. With that said, i am waiting for my jan 2015 production spider. 305k plus another 6.5k for speciale wheels (which i am still working out the details). I thought that was a fair price for a 2015 spider built the way I want (lots of carbon fiber, Racing seats etc.). Who knows what will happen with the future models , just enjoy the moment and what you have...

Great thread guys. I'm in the market for a 458 as well now. But since I'm in Michigan, debating about holding off till the Spring. Today was a beautiful, and warm fall day in Michigan. So I was itching to pull the trigger soon.
The reality is that the cold Winter will be hitting us in a 1.5 months. And I would just be staring at the 458 within the confines of my garage. I can, and should wait. This thread helped.

Since you emphasized the statement...I would like to correct you by saying that I have ALWAYS gotten more for my cars with CF than those without. Do I get full value back, of course not, but CF has a lot of intrinsic value when selling one of these cars and my buyers paid more just because of the CF.

There are other "experts" on here that say you really don't get any credit on resale for CF, I was simply quoting them - I guess its a matter of degree but if you buy a car for $300K and sell it in 4 years for $200K with no CF and you buy one at +$50K CF and sell it for $215K in 4 years you could argue you got more for the CF car, but you lost almost all the value of the CF.

Exactly. Plus interior cf is mostly cosmetic and I'm not a fan YMMV. BTW my sticker was $287k and i got exactly what i wanted: LED steering wheel wrapped in leather, painted sports wheels, yellow calipers, shields, electric seats, ipod, parking sensors and homelink, silver stitching and cavallinos. i drive my spider to work so some of these options are key. Never regretted not ordering lifter.

If you can stomach it, wait! You may end up saving some decent money when prices drop. I would buy dead of winter if I were you.
