How would you make FerrariChat.com better?

Longer Edit times.

Less feedback on For Sale forums. Too many opinions from non buyers.

 

I get that. There's something that triggers repeated notifications on unopened threads though.

It's not a big problem just a bit annoying.

 

Anyone else but me having problems uploading file pics and not being able to close the window on an iPad running iOS 8 ??

I totally disagree. The classifieds on this site is a great place for newbes to look for cars. I find that there are more positive feedback posts than negative ones and sometimes the negative ones are very justified. I like to see what others that may have more experience regarding price and issues have to say. There are always other ways to sell a car where you can post ridiculous prices and make absurd statements without any feedback.

There are other sites out there such as calguns which strictly enforce the thread crapping rule in the classified section and it works well.

 

I'll say it again, separate 348 and 355 forums.

Feedback on incorrect parts or damage is one thing. Making snooty remarks about what things are worth and polluting someone's thread with arguments and opinions is stupid.

 

I agree with Drew. I like the fact that if I were to buy a car on Fchat other knowledgeable users have had an opportunity to weigh in, both positive and negative, and I can make a more informed decision. I see how sellers may find it annoying, but as a buyer it adds a lot of value. I would hate for someone to withhold valuable information about a car because they're afraid to be banned. As long as the negative comments are respectful (not always the case) I think they should be *encouraged*.

Which is fine. But if you're selling a car for 75,000 and someone comes along and goes "it's worth 55 glws" why even chime in? Then people argue over that for 3 pages. What's the point

 

Fair enough, Rob and I agree that it's not productive when classifieds digress into market value flame wars.

But if the same person says, "In my geographic market I've seen several cars like this trade in the $55k range" in a respectful way, that could actually be helpful. That's all I'm saying...keep it respectful but don't ban people for stating a value opinion. The Seller can respond with, "here's why my car is worth more" or "I'm not selling for less than $xx."

Ultimately, the market will determine what a car is worth. Plenty of examples of people trying to devalue a car only to see it sold for close to asking price a few weeks later. And vice versa - situations where the OP was overpricing the car and it didn't sell a year later. The market will always prevail but the benefit of Fchat is that both seller and buyer can at least hear all those perspectives. Just one humble opinion from a new member.

 

How about an archive of threads of the month? Would be to go back and look through

There are some users on here that probably weren't alive when 56k warning was a thing

Other forums allow for a thumbnail type setup so you could leave it at the 800x800 default on the page and it shows the size/reso for the user to decide.

I agree. Especially with all the paying subscribers, bigger servers shouldn't be any problem. So many great pictures of great cars going half to waste because of resizing....

 

One way to make it better is to put the date of the original thread next to the name of the person that originally started the thread. That way when you look at the list of all the threads, you can see when it was originally started.

 

Storage is dirt cheap. 500G is puny these days...
