Well at least asking prices are on the RISE - from all dealers on 355's. Several at or over $80k and rising. And I'm talking normal cars - not 8,000 mile cars stuck in a cocoon. As the Porsche 993 goes, so shall the 355 I think. They are similar in many ways.

So I think if you are on the fence, buy soon. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Do you think the same will apply to the 348?

Yes, on 348 spiders, low production, last of the model. Prices on these are also up quite a bit. Up but Not as much on early year 348's. Just my 2 cents.

about time, the 355 and 348 have been bargain bucket for years.

As OP says the 993's have sky rocketed over the last few months, glad I got into mine 6yrs back at rediculously low money.

Perhap now my 348 could get to what I paid for it some 10yrs ago!

The ask is defiantly on the rise, but plenty of cars just sitting on the market not selling.

Ask and sale are two very different things.

Even Doug at Switchcars has a red GTS for under. $70k and that unheard of for him (normally would be well over 70)

As I stated in the 550 section, the entire ferrari market is drunk with Enzo era valuations.

Though I too believe that our 355s as well as the 550s time of massive appreciation will come. It was a special time in Ferrrari/ Pinin Farina design, performance and positive energy.

However, the time for this appreciation to solidify and authentically take hold with serious vigour and seriously high dollar valuations is FAR down the line. Their time will come but it isn't now and may not be for at least another decade or two.

So, what are the reasons some cars in your market are now being offered at a premium and others are not?

What is the history of the car you mention?

Steve, like any markets, you have gems and abused examples. The abused, or just not cared for cars are going for low 30's. The gems still seem to be 70ish with the exception of a few outside the curve.

As everyone knows, 355's are a temperamental car that can result in the injection of serious money to sort.

Sub 10k mile cars will always bring the best price.

So, in your opinion are 355s genuinely on the rise in your market?

Ask, yes. Sale, no. But, I think they will soon especially as the inventory of good cars decreases.

Like the rest of the world, then.

How would you define a "good car"?

(Or one worthy of the value increase?)

Low miles, low number of owners (say 2-3), well serviced (and documented) and well cared for......

I know you already know this, Steve :)

    Spot on, Dave. :)

Can you see your 355 market going the same way as the European market?
ie. 50% increase (at least) in last 3-4 years.

How do you think the average 355 owner / buyer would view this?

I'd say mines an average car but I don't think it will be on the market again until my estate sale (read: hopefully a very long time from now) so that should increase the value of all the others right? :)

Why the obsession with 355 prices? If they were really moving, like 308/328prices it might make sense. But I wouldn't plan my retirement on 355 values rising. As soon as the last "prices are increasing" thread fall off the page an new one appears.

How about a new topic. Why aren't 355 prices rising?

I agree that they probably will appreciate, but how far down the road and by how much, who knows? It will take some fairly good appreciation to offset the cost of maintenance on these cars.

Steve355F1: Which Europe are you talking about?
In the Europe I know the prices for a F355 did not increase. At least not that much.
There is only a strange little island close to Europe where the people drive on the wrong side of the roads and that doesn't really belong to Europe where some people have the money to pay 100000Pound (pounds are unknown in Europe, I can't even find the pound sign on my keyboard.)
In Europe the average asking price is around 55000€ (min: 35k€, max 90k€)
