So I bought my dream car yesterday (stupidly without at PPI) from a very reputable dealer (not Ferrari). Drove it home with no issues - an absolute joy way beyond my expectations!
    Two problems occurred though.

First during the last few hours of driving the F1 transmission failure light came on. The car seemed to shift fine and the light did not stay on all the time. There were beeps just once. Probably not a big deal.

Second problem is more serious. When I turned the car off at the end of the day a fan on the front passenger's side would not shut off thus draining the battery! It's now in my garage with a dead battery.

My question to FC community is will plugging my battery tender in going to get that dead battery going? Or should I wait for the dealer (90 miles away) deal with it (maybe a new battery)?

Thanks for any help on this! And of course...lesson is NEVER buy a car without a PPI. I can't wait to get this car in for it's first service so I can get back to enjoying it!

The dead battery is not the issue. What car model is it. The fan could stay on because the engine is hot or a short. As for the F1 failure light that is a whole other issue. If you just got it your state may allow you to get your moneyback within 3 days.

    Do not jump start

Before anyone else asks its probably a 360 (according to your profile)

Is yours a battery charger or a conditioner - only the former may get your battery back

Have a cruise thro the 360 section for similar issues and going forward useful positive information to benefit your ownership

It is indeed a 360. And it is a battery charger (I got from the local Ferrari dealer). I plugged it in 4 hours ago and still nothing. I just wish I could somehow get the car started.

The dealer I did buy the car from (Herb Chambers in Boston) just told me they would facilitate flatbed to Ferrari of NE. Ugh. I just want to drive this baby!!

Also the driver's door won't close. Is that related to the dead battery?

If the battery is completely dead, perhaps the window didn't lower the 1/4" to facilitate normal opening/closing...? That would prevent the door from closing. The F1 issue is probably the more costly to address, could be pump on last legs.

    Thanks ar4me!
That totally makes sense. I wonder how I can transport it on a flatbed if door won't close

The easiest way would be to strap the door in a closed position to the steering wheel to hold it "closed", climb out from the passengers side and possibly cover the car over if there's any chance of rain!

That's what I would do in this situation.

    Michael,
I've had my TR out at FNE for problems in the past, and purchased my F12 from them this year. They have been good to work with. The GM is Jesse Berger, and the service Mgr. is Sean McGuire.
I'll be talking with Sean in the next few days and will ask him to look out for you.
They typically use "V" for transporting my cars and he has been here a few times now.
He takes great care with what he does.
Hopefully you have good response from them.
If you're in the neighborhood stop by and say hello.
    Phil

If battery is dead and truly what is preventing the window from dropping the 1/4", then he will also be stuck with a passenger door that can't be closed. Add to that, that he will first have to force it open (without the 1/4" window drop to clear the seal)... If you have a battery pack, you could connect it and drop the driver's side window 1/2" to close door.

Anyway, it should be easy to see if the window not dropping is your issue...

How old is the battery? If unknown then buy a new one.

F1 issues.. they gotta plug it into the diagnostic to find out whats up with it. Window dropping.. if there's no power the motor can't drop the window to open the door. Door latch mechanism is mechanical.

The passenger side door is closed and the driver's side is open so no problem getting the charger in and plugged in.

My problem now is that my charger is plugged in and for some reason not charging the battery! (the charger light "charging" is not on)

<<So I bought my dream car yesterday (stupidly without at PPI) from a very reputable dealer (not Ferrari).>>

I'll say if you have trani issue, if they are reputable, they should offer to take it back or have the issues fixed at Ferrari, their choice.

I had a lesser issue just buying a car from Symbolic after a PPI. Their tech screwed up PPI fixes I requested to be addressed. These issues were worst when igot the car, and I now have these items fixed here in the N.E at the dealer.

I told the symbolic sales guy about it and they've agreed to send me a check to fully cover the costs as their tech working on my car caused other issues for other customers (no longer working there BTW)..
Standing behind the product is what I called reputable

Trickle chargers will error when the battery is completely dead. They expect some resistance or some such and when the battery is completely dead they safety stut off. You have to keep plugging them over and over for the first, I don't know, 30-60 minutes, before the battery will start to take a charge normally.

So I should just plug it then out several times before it will begin to charge?

If I find the issues relating to the F1 transmission warning light go beyond low transmission fluid or something minor like that, then I will definitely ask that the dealer (Herb Chambers Porsche in Boston) cover the costs.

You should go and buy a new battery IMHO. If it has died flat its never going to be 100% again.

I am going to get a new battery for sure. I would like to just move it out of the garage and also would be great to be able to drive it to the dealer to get serviced.

I had a new battery go dead flat, recharged and tested it and it tested higher than advertised new.

And yes, your charger probably has a red light or yellow light or something when it errors, so plug it in, wait for it to error, unplug and replug, repeat as much as necessary. In my limited experience, that's what I think you need to do.

There is no error light showing. The light indicating "charging" just not lighting at all. I'll go try your solution now though

Might need a good old fashioned charger with positive and negative clips. Your charger may not work at all with a dead batt.

You need to disconnect the battery before you attempt to charge because there is a drain on it that caused the dead battery in the first place. That way you can at least hopefully get enough charge into the battery overnight to close the door etc. after reconnecting it before transport.

That would certainly help. Believe the cutoff switch on the 360 is pax side upper back wall in the boot?
