So I'm treating my self to an early Christmas present... I just bought a Rosso 1/8 643 Ferrari model.

I've been lusting after one ever since I saw one at the British Gp back in 96.

once i get it I'll try to do a build log...

Its one of the prettiest but un successful Ferrari F-1 cars of all time.....

Nice. I have always wanted one to accompany my Pocher F40. I remember my local modelcarshop having one in the window in the early ninties. Not for sale, but far over my budget anyway. Good luck building it! Awesome machine.

So here are some beginning pics... will post some more when i have more time.

So far its just been sanding and painting. all the suspension is metal, as well as the body.

so been using my metal files to smooth everything.

i have the front wing basically done but still need to do some touch up... Its a nice model, but some things dont exactly fit together as well as you would like. It's almost tamiya quality, but not quite. lots of screws, and the castings are pretty poor - cheap pot metal in some, and some are very heavy.

the engine detail will be the biggest challenge. I found one upgrade kit - but its $800.... so doubt Im going to go that route. so been doing a lot of research on engine plumbing sensors etc... will have to make my own coil packs & wires.

Nice! Far more than I did to mine when I built it straight out of the box and then sold it before putting the stickers on many years ago.
Ridiculously expensive but you know about the kit with the setup wheels and detail parts right?

I've seen those detail - upgrade kits on Ebay but for $800 I dont think its worth it. I do like the garage wheels, but for the wiring etc.. its just as easy to get from my local hobby shop. I used HO model rail road wire, as well as door bell wire and pulled the insulation off for larger hoses. aluminum HVAC tape works great for wrapping pipes, and wire ties.

Very nice. I have this model and it has a big presence. 1/8 scale is rather large.
