Try Gummy Pfleg (sp?) from BMW. Works great on door seals as well. Yes it is German but works on Italian cars as well. :)

None of your objections have anything to do with the quality of the car: Looks, sound, recognition, handling predictability, small performance increase. The first 3 are purely emotional. Handling and performance gains are meaningless to the average driver because he would not be able to extract the max out of either car on a track and it doesn't matter on the street. But your last point really does address why someone would chose a 360, availability and price. So you can get an overall better car for less money. Sounds like a good reason to choose a 360 to me. People who want a 355 will still buy a 355. People who just want to get into a Ferrari may likely go to a 360. (edit: I added the bold because some of you seem to miss that from my point.)

I definitely wanted a 355 which is why I bought one. But even then some 360s came around that were hard to resist. And one thing I know for sure, if I buy another F car it will likely be a 360 F1, even if I could get a 355 F1 for the same price or less. F355, been there, done that. Don't want another. Must be an age thing. You get older; you make more objective decisions.

Why not just buy a newer 911, then?
Or a Corvette? Or whatever you could buy in your country for the same money.
There must be many "better" cars available.

I genuinely find it hard to believe that anyone who really WANTS a 355, would end up with a 360 instead because they were scared off by potential maintenance issues.
If that is the case, this website should hang its head in shame.

Have to admit, the 360CS is a fabulous car.
And so much better looking than the standard 360 it's difficult to believe they are the "same" model.

    Still no 355, though. :)

I laugh everyday I start my 355, we did the belts with the engine in. "flame suit on".

Total cost on maintenance in 8k miles with cam belt service=$1500, I use the other 10k I saved to fill my car with gas and drive the snot out of it. LOL

I have owned many high end exotics and the ferrari is no different to work on but the dealer will want you to believe it is.

I can't wait until my clutch blows so I have something to repair (thanks ferrari for putting the clutch housing right in the rear so I can pull the assembly in under an hour :)), life is boring when your 355 doesn't break (and you don't think about posts from ferrarichat about headers/sdls/valve guides everytime you start your car) and you don't receive calls from your local service advisor about the lube job to your muffler bearings.

Just wait until 10-15 years from now when the wiring looms and connectors break down even more, and people start resorting to pulling the tank to slap on belts. Is it really that different than the 360??

Oh wait, you guys need the vin.

Sorry for the digression.. Rant on.

Just to be clear, I don't think the 360 is a particularly beautiful car compared to the 355, but it's difficult for me to say its ugly. I'd own the car below in a second.

Again you miss the point that I expressed in bold. If some want wants a 355 that is what they will by. That's why I bought a 355. It was what I wanted. That is NOT the same guy who wakes up one day and decides he wants a Ferrari and has $70k to spend.

I find it truly ironic how the same folks that have purchased 355's often put them down in some ways with little digs. The best things in life are high maintenance - just look at hot women :)

Seriously though, I have zero regrets with my 355 and love it more and more each day. I never seem to lose the desire to just stare at the car - it's just that sexy :)

If you like the 360, go for it. You are one less person in my way when I go to buy another 355.

Yes, why not. If the question is, "I have $70k to spend. What is the best performance sports car to buy?" The answers is not a Ferrari. It has to go, I want a sports car; I want a exotic sports car, I want a Ferrari before you can even consider which Ferrari you want and why.

Oh well. I guess its like some guy waking up one day and deciding he wants a blow job.

Do you want it from some fat ugly ho who's going to give you no grief, or a supermodel who might be a bit of a pain in the ass?

Well, as long as you guys are paying for my car (Social Security checks :)) I'm going for variety. The only car I have any emotional attachment to is my 308. The rest are just toys to distract me from my impending doom. Got to love the younger crowd. Work hard for me, please.

I wouldn't. I think Ferrari jumped the shark with the 360. The CS wheels and side skirts helped, but it still looks the designer had a lump of clay, got distracted by a phone call and then just called it a day.

I don't know... as posted earlier you can get a Porsche 997 that actually is a better, faster, more reliable and marginally practical car that you can daily drive. I've always divided my garage into the practical side and the all-rules-out-the-window side. I got bored of my 911/993 when it was in the all-rules-out-the-window role, because I felt like I'd compromised. I replaced it with the 328 and enjoyed it a lot more. Ultimately that's what it's all about.

Would most people take the 360? Probably. Yes, I get why someone would take a 355, even with its list of issues and cheap interior, because they look and sound great. Is that enough to make 11,000 of them collectible? I wouldn't bank on that.

    Just drive.

What, you did not just say that did you? My 1998 smells brand new. They must have killed 20 cows to upholster the interior of a 355 - it's all leather - everywhere! the side pillars, the headliner, the rear shelf - it's nuts!

the interior of the 355 is awesome IMO...
I agree with Dave......its all leather and if treated correctly it smells like a fine hand crafted Italian leather shoe

Porsche guys love to put down Ferraris, in my experience, but lots of Ferrari owners also own Porsches. They go great together. Porsches are very competent cars but they lack something that every Ferrari has but especially pre-360 Ferraris have, and have it spades: a sense of occasion. I have driven some amazing Porsches - fast Porsches, magical Porsches, iconic Porsches (I have the best 1973 Carrera RS in the US) - but none of them have the sense of occasion that any one of my Ferraris have. Some of these older Ferraris just feel special at any speed.

Look, it's great to take home the prom queen but it's something else to take home Charlize Theron.

I think the 360 has a cheap interior..not styled to my likes either..close the doors on a 360 is like closing the door of a japanese car
