I hope never to met SM on a German autobahn. Switzerland has a speed limit of 120km/h. PS There are rumors the Mr. Jim G. plans to buy the 10% of Ferrari
I really haven't had time to read the entire thread..but here's food for thought.... ......Should Walmart buy Ferrari....you could then buy your latest ..greatest Ferrari car through A local Walmart store!!!! Think about it???? LOL
great read: Here's Everything You Need To Know About Fiat-Chrysler Spinning Off Ferrari - Business Insider
Ok, so, If LdM and SM disagreed about Ferrari being part of the Fiat Chrysler Auto group IPO, then if Ferrari is separated from that organization isn't that a way for Ferrari to gain more independence. Theoretically as others have mentioned Pierro and friends could acquire the majority, and theoretically hire LdM back. I am not speculating LdM would be hired back.
Given their acquisition of other performance and luxury brands, why not? Piech apparently has a ravenous appetite.
What Ferrari will do with this independence? There is nothing what should be changed in Ferrari so they don't need more independence.
I just emailed my investment advisor to buy a few shares when they are available. I want that certificate to frame. Alan
Maybe you are right but it's only a speculation, I would be not surprised if VW wants more buy Alfa than Ferrari
Seems like an odd fit, given they already have Porsche, and then Audi and Lamborghini sharing engines and other components. Ferrari and Alfa would seem redundant. Honestly, the comparison that springs to mind is Lotus, which had a go at independence...
Do you have any proof that there is plan to increase production numbers? New boss denied that he want 10.000 units per year.
ferrari will feel the pressure to do what porsche did, diversify with high volume models. reporting to the street will demand it. as a business, Lamborghini (and VW) is looking pretty good right now to benefit from all of this. Their production numbers are small enough to still be somewhat niche and they've shown some great advancement in the Hurucan vs italia. Yes the clientele is difference remains, today, but that will change.
Terrible business decision if this is what it seems. Sell the best rev generator and brand to overhaul a bunch of half ass or re surging brands. I guess if your management team is awesome. Of course that is not the case here. Might actually end up better for Ferrari. But who knows. The uncertainty sucks. I need to read more now.
My point was that Piech (VW) has the cash, and will power to buy and run Ferrari. never said it was a great idea. at the same time VW would slowy erode FIAT's financial base and gobble them up at a later date. leaving him (VW) THE worlds car maker.
So 10% is available to the market and the rest goes to current shareholders. I wonder just how much more of Ferrari could be bought from those shareholders?
