I see the above as about a two year car for me, and I haven't been willing to take the depreciation hit to order new. Used ones (in a 7 speed manual) are just beginning to hit the market. Other than a general inspection, and pulling the over-rev data, are there any specific points I should be sure to check?

Buy a CPO car and you will be fine.

+1 on CPO. Why not go back to a 997.2 model, especially if only for 2 years? Can find CPO'd 997.2 4S's for good prices. Good luck worth the hunt...T

Haven't found a CPO car. And I haven't found a way to search all Porsche dealers at once (wait--I just found it). In terms of a 997.2, most with experience with both have said it is worth the extra effort to try to get a 991. I'm happy to pay a CPO premium if I can find a car (I also thought, at least with some manufacturers, that they won't CPO a car that still has significant factory warranty left).

Either way, great cars. Get one sand drive the tar out of it. They can take it.

Hi Scotty...I got CPO'd 997.2 C2S with about 2 years of original warranty left. CPO extends to 100K miles IIRC. Def, if your budget allows, many recommend getting newest car you can. Cars.com is my fave way to hunt for cars. Enjoy the hunt & post pics when to have your new car!...T

I think I know the answer to this question, but maybe someone can confirm. Some cars on Porsche website are CPO, and some are not (I'm looking just at 2013 and 2014). What excludes a car from being CPO? I assume it can be dealer choice (there is probably a cost to dealer, and it makes the purchase price higher). I also assume cars with service elsewhere, or with too many over revs on a DME dump, are also not CPO'd.

    Any insight?

CPO cost dealers money so many times cars that still have significant amounts of their original warranties are sold as used (like the way things used to be before the term CPO ever came to exist).
