The future of the double World Champion remains a mystery with Alonso inundated with questions about where he will be next season. LOL but is he? Thats the real question. The longer it takes the less interested I am and in general his stock appears on the surface to be dropping overall. If he left the F1 circus would we lose any sleep. If anything he is not as marketable as it appears. His titles and glory are long past. He has done well with Ferrari but overall, as superb as he is no one appears to overtly care at the front of the grid.
Agreed; I guess his main problem is that since he was pushed out of Ferrari, he does not have all cards in hand: - salary wise, his position is not that strong. - and if Lewis signs an extension after end 2015 with Mercedes in the weeks to come, he will not be left with a lot of options, will he? Besides, the idea here is certainly not to dwelve into too much dialectic, but he says: I know "more or less" where I will be, then "this is exactly what I wanted": How can it be at the same time "exactly" what he wanted, if he knows only "more or less"? When he says he's going to be exactly ehere he wants to be he must be meaning that 3 car teams are coming and he's getting a merc seat. Other than that he is lying. We all know merc is exactly where he wants to be. The entire driver market has stalled and is waiting on something. It could very well be that the teams are waiting to see the outcome of the failing teams and whether there will be a move to 3 cars for next year. Though in terms of implementation there isn't much time. I highly doubt the hold up is to do with alonsos contract. It has been reported that ferrari has released alonso. Whilst this hasn't been confirmed I doubt Vettel left RB without concrete proof that alonso had been released from his contract thereby freeing up the seat. So I'm thinking ferrari must've already paid the penalty on that one.
There is no driver market . Impo only honda and AMG mercedes are the only teams that can pay him redbull killed the drivers market . How many guys are pay driver's in f1 most of them have backers Fred got in ferrari that way . In a lighter note kimi 100% happy at ferrari and the 15 car is look good . I think the main question what is going on is whether he was really pushed out or whether they have annuled the contract by mutual agreement. A lot of arguments (moneywhise) here are based on the "pushed out" theory as it is assumed that who ever announces the separation first (Ferrari or Alonso) is loosing money. But if it is by agreement (what I read out of the few articles) there must be something different holding up things...

But once this has been decided, the un-tying of the contractual situation could be done under a mutual non-agression pact; Im sure the right lawyers are working overtime on this whenever there is big money involved, its better to be wise. So he was pushed out, but the contracts are now untied by mutual agreement... But as for the rest Fernando could even end being Ferraris team manager; or drive one year for McLaren-Honda and should he wish to do so, come back at the end of 2015 when Kimi retires Rgds

So I understood his interviews different: he mentioned that his decision raised over the last months so this sounds to me more like he wanted to leave. Alonso does not have that many seasons left and I think he really wants to get a further WDC rather than sitting out his contract at Ferrari waiting for a suitable car. I think instead of waiting more years for the team building a car for him that could win he wants to go where such a car already exists (Mercedes) or where he thinks it might come earlier (McLaren/Honda). Although today most in the grid rates him still top his fame might fade in the years to come if there is nothing following his two early WDC. Certainly he is professional and earns his money with the sport but I doubt that it is just a question of money as he should have earned enough in the last years so a competitive car might have priority now over the annual salary.
You're certainly right about the priority for him being on winning, and conquering that third title which has proved so elusive: eigth seasons is an eternity. As for "his decision having been made", well, frankly I'm not sure this is not an argument he found later, "ex-post"...to be frank, I don't give much attention to his declarations in the heat of the moment; only time will tell us what really has happened...(which is what has made the Ferrari history so fascinating for me for about 40 years...) Perhaps take a page from Nelson Piquet's(Sr.) playbook. After two seasons in the wilderness at Lotus, he drove for Benetton for a zero retainer--just paid for points scored. As I recall he scored three victories for them and left F1 on a high note.
