Or driving DTM without success like Hakkinen and Coulthard He might get a Mercedes there but as far as I know this was not really the car to have last season
Sit out F1 for one year and come back with audi? http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/fernando-alonso-to-audi-le-mans-team-2014-10-31 http://www.motorsport.com/f1/video/main-gallery/fernando-alonso-vs-audi-r18-e-tron/
At least it's given you something to read, LOL The thread title was a gamble...but may still be true. Who knows what's going on at this point behind closed doors? What if the 3 car thing happens and Ferrari lines up Vettel, Alonso & Raikonnen (3 world champs!) that may be awesome! Maybe they're selling 10% of their shares to be able to afford paying all 3....
While taking on a mountain of corporate debt? I suspect that Ferrari may be about to temper its resistance to real cost controls.
Kimi gone at the end year . Ferrari is just waiting to see what happens in the so called drivers market Impo if button comes on the market they will give him a two year deal . The one thing ferrari has alot of flex in its number two seat because there checks don't bounce
BBC Sport - Fernando Alonso close to McLaren deal as Jenson Button may leave - Latest from BBC. No confirmation but what real options does FA have at this point.
According to the french site "Motorsport nextgen auto", Fernando Alonso has confirmed yesterday after the race: "yes I am leaving the team at the end of the season; until then, I will do my best to help Ferrari" I'll post the link later. Rgds
As I posted in the other thread : This is probably a mistranslation of the official post race interview (in English) in which he commented that he would do his best in the final races
I don't think so, because they are stating it once again this morning... They add in this morning info that Fernando has "probably" has found an agreement with McLaren-Honda for two years, with an option on a third; and also that Grosjean could be his team-mate at McLaren, freing Button to go to Lotus... Make up your own opinion. The FIRST link is this morning info about the agreement with McLaren; the SECOND link is the one about his leaving Ferrari at the end of the season. confie-t-il à l’arrivée = official post race interview & this morning the journalist is just quoting himself which is why no-one else has mentioned that quote ! I'm not saying its not going to happen just that this isn't it
i said it before. if/when lewis locks up the WDC with Merc there will be no anger and hence reason to leave the team early and if anything he will extend his stay there. Yesterday was one step closer so Alonso is one step closer to signing a multi year mclaren deal. It makes perfect sense.
I saw another rumor which suggested Santandar would back Alonso starting his own formula 1 team, but based on his input, I can't see it being very successful and the investment will take more than Santandar can afford to invest (my take and I don't see this happening).
with all the silly season rumors; there has been little mentioned about Lotus, they are switching to Mercedes power next season, and they seem to be in better financial shape. Now they have had a bad 2014 season, some of that can be attributed to the Renault power unit and the fitment in the car, but also some poor driving. might this be a real option for alonso?
I said it on here several months ago. Yes, it is a good option, particularly if they get Stroll $. Still I believe Alonso signed with McLaren a while ago
I do not know whether he said that to the international press or just in German TV (and certainly he is not the most reliable source but he might know what is whispered in the paddocks) but Lauda mentioned that Alonso had indead agreed with McLaren a while ago and the problem is the contract of Ferrari and Alonso as this is apparently not legally binding voided. So Ferrari seems to have three drivers (Raikkonen, Vettel and Alonso) under contract and Alonso has a contract with two teams (Ferrari and McLaren). So it seems to be really a question which side ends the contract (Ferrari or Alonso) for the money.... I doubt that Lotus is a good option...They might get better next year but I do not think that they could really get on top in the next years, that is more likely with McLaren and Alonso needs the success in the next few years, he is running out of time for his 3rd WDC
yes he did, Peter; but I must say that I am wondering what credit can be given to a guy who says in the same sentence: "I know more or less where I am going" then "and this is exactly what I wanted to do": how can it be EXACTLY what you wanted if you only know "more or less"...? Rgds
Apparently a done deal: Unwürdiges Theater vorbei: Alonso 2015 bei McLaren! | Formel 1 | Blick Blick reports that Alonso has signed with McLaren. Actually he signed right after the Sochi GP for two years with McLaren. And he has an option to extend beyond that if he wins races. He will replace Button.
The way I see it, he'll get an option to leave next year if the car sucks, he'll make it suck on purpose getting on Ron's nerve, and in 2016 will swap places with Hamilton, who will be beaten considerably by Rosberg next year after becoming 2014 WDC.
