In the thread of embarrassing moments in a 355, there was a discussion of the spider tops not working, etc. My top works great and especially since I checked and added fluid last week. TR512 , Mike has published a protocol for making the top manual and I prefer to do what is necessary to keep it working as designed. He challenged me to operate my top 5 times in a row and here is the video. In reality it was 8 times as I did three before my wife realized the video wasn't running and then I had to record it again I may have issues in the future but right now all is well. Car has 23k miles. Non idea how often it was used before me. I'm the 4th owner [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yw2p9ijbfV8]355 Spider top - YouTube[/ame]
Well I had to explain that to the wife early on a Sunday morning. Now off for a ride with the too up!
Tips for recording video with your cell phone. Always do it with the volume buttons pointing at the ground (iphone), then it will be right side up when transferred to a computer.
Odd, it should have came out right then. BTW I wish my top worked as well as yours. Mine drops right down but when I go to put it up I have to make sure the forks catch on the pin on both sides. Not sure what that's all about but I haven't looked into it too far since I only put the top down a couple times a year.
I wish I could see yours. Not that I'm so brilliant but if like to try and figure out what isn't right. Love this Rube Goldberg nonsense. Kind of like some my old toy train stuff. Haha
That looked brilliant to me Bob, glad mine works just like that. But I am partial to red spiders and that is a cool hat also.
Ok, Kudos to Dr. Bob. It's about 45 degrees here in NNJ. That's either dedication or a man on a mission. And props to his wife while indulging him and manning the camera.
OK, for your second act lets see you put the windows up and down. About 100 times should do it. Lets give them neighbors something to really wonder about.
Can somebody post a video, from the driver's seat, showing the process start to finish of lowering and then raising the convertible top? I have had my car for a few months and live in fear of getting caught in the rain as operating the damn thing seems hit or miss. So... I have only been operating it in my driveway. And btw, not very well.
