Lessee....30 minutes to replace a bad spark plug wire. Or..... A few days and a couple hundred dollars to redo injectors just in case it isn't the bad wire that's gotta be replaced anyway. Yeah, I think I'll do that.
My point exactly. No reason to turn it into a research project when an obvious fix might be all it needs.
In John's defense..... I think he is trying to make a point of proper diagnostics instead of just throwing more parts at the car in the hopes "this one will do it" If you followed Ketel's saga, it's a pretty long journey of problems...
With all due respect, I've been doing this for a long time. Who I am and what I do is no secret here. I understand proper diagnostics and what the real limitations on the OBD2 system are. The subject of this thread is likely a single problem. Fix it and move on. Repairing or replacing a bad wire is NOT throwing parts at the car. If the problem returns, there is time for more tests. Some of you guys seem to enjoy making other people's car problems into a spectator sport. Rather than seeing how much time and money you can get someone else to spend on their car, how about actually helping or stay out of the way.
Tim, with the same due respect, I was not stating this particular wire as the example of "throwing parts". My comment was based on the long saga and if you followed it, John has tried to offer sound help throughout. One of the big problems on this board is members don't seem to have respect for each other when it comes to different approaches that are not theirs.

What is "anonymous profile" suppose to mean? You talking about FBB? By the way everyone, when was the last time you measure the impedance of ignition wires even though the car you were working on exhibited absolutely no symptoms of a problem of any kind? Everybody, chime in. We can start another thread if you like, to keep this out of kettle's. Do you do it once a year? When you change plugs? When you do a major? Only when you sense an ignition problem? Doesn't have to be on a Ferrari. What about your daily driver? Do you think the wires break down over time or just go pop! Do you go out in your garage at night, start your car, open the rear deck, turn out the lights and see if there is any arcing? If your car is running fine would you take that as a sign that the wires are shot? Just curious how you determine if your ignition wires are up to the gold standard.
I know this is in your area of expertise and would really like to better understand it I do check mine often but found over the years way too many intermittent issues with wires Ohm reading not making sense . Would be a quite interesting thread
Hey! Don't drag me into your guys sh!pstorm. I got nothing to do with your d@ck swinging. More people know me since the inception of Fchat than know you regardless of you saying your're John in whatever land. I say don't be lazy. You can read my 10,000+ posts and decide for yourself if I'm full of hot air or not. But if you call me out you better be ready to defend yourself.
