    Idiotic. Used to live down the road in Memphis. I can't imagine the town of Dyersburg has $ to waste on something this ludicrous...T

    Apparently they do, and so far, have not come to their senses, and are still pursuing euthanasia. Even with a petition closing in on 500,000 signatures, which is about 30 times more than their population. I really don't get it, it makes no sense at all. They are behaving as if this dog bit a person. I think any dog will attack a duck if they had the chance - it's just what dogs do.

    Just read this,unbelievable. Will pass along. If these idiots don't release that dog I hope the owner finds a way to get him out of there. Would be worth whatever penalty he would face and I am sure social media would donate whatever is needed to defend him.

    Interesting. You are right, I never read anything about the dog going after the boy. The article did say that the dog has never bitten anyone before. There is a massive difference between actually biting someone versus being aggressive towards someone. Who knows, the kid could have taunted the dog. Seems that there is only the kid's story, and the kid's brother, and they're certainly not going to admit that they provoked the dog.

    My position is the same. Dog has never bitten anyone, and never bit the kid. My dog would show aggression towards a stranger too, but biting is a different story.

    On another note, your Reddit post seems to be getting a ton of sign-ups. I get a notification every time someone signs, and have received about 130 so far. Great idea!

    There are a lot of possible scenarios. Someone pointed out that the kid could have been trying to get the duck away from the dog, which is a freaking retriever, and the dog could have snapped.

    Regardless of what happened, it's clear the dog didn't bite anyone and I see absolutely no reason to put it down.

    I'm glad it's contributing.

    So true. If I ever attempted to take my Dane's bone away from her, she'd tear my head off! Otherwise, she's as gentle as can be.
