It looks like I picked a good time to close the deal on my 328 GTS. I don't think I could afford them now, and it's only been a week!

that front badge doesn't look to have 200 km and been kept in a box for 25 years, it looks to have been exposed to salt and water for a long time.

I saw several 70 k Euro cars for sale here in Italy, with bad repaints and clearly redone interiors with 25 k miles shown on the ODO (impossible, interiors are very good on a 25 k miles car and do not need a rebuild, maybe just the steering wheel if you have rings and so on): if those worth 70 k euro, mine should cost 100 k euro or even more...

    ciao

Pictures here below show a (true) 36000 km (22,5 K miles) OEM cream interior and a (true) 51000 km (31,8 K miles) OEM black interior: they do not need any rebuild and can be taken as a benchmark to learn which is the real mileage of the car you are evaluating. Mileage is certain as both are single owner cars, whose owners wrote and signed on a paper what the real mileage is.

The tyres do indicate its genuine. They are marked "Goodyear Eagle ZR55" and are exactly the same as my unused spare. They would have been original fitment.

All the car looks fantastic, but that front emblem is very strange on such a car.

Of course there is always the possibility that they pulled the original tires and ran the car on other tires, then put the originals back on when selling it at auction.

If a supposedly pristine car sold for $250,000, does that open others with 328's to start restoring their cars to pristine level and making a profit doing it?

Sports Car Market reviewed this sale in the December issue. I viewed this sale as a high water mark and an indicator of the market advancing. I'm very disappointed in their assessment. "The trouble with these ultra-low mileage cars is that a) using them wipes out the very thing that adds value and b) standing does them no good at all - so even if you want to drive it, you're onto a big recommissioning job first. File under "time-wrap curiosity". The comment is true for all low mileage cars. If this was a low mileage Dino would they be lamenting about the lack of use or celebrating its exclusivity. I think the latter. That sale established a new high for 328 values. One of us is missing the point. Is it me?

It's an outlier. An 89 GTS in red/crema with a 3-digit mileage ticks all the boxes over there as "top spec" 328. The only thing that would have made it go higher would be RHD. The market is trending up overall, but these sales are the data points you throw out when you're trying to see where it's going. Nice to talk about but not really definitive.

It is going up though. Really tempted to pick up an early carb car right now.

Totally agree; Not saying that prices may not be rising but that sort of example has nothing to do with OUR 3x8s in the real world of cars with miles on them.

Then sell me your 328 for $25,000 then, you drive it in the rain anyway, it's not like it's a garage queen.
PM me pictures and we can go from there. When was your last belt and bearing service?

At the Silverstone auction in May at basket case 246 Dino sold for $220,000. This is a car that would have been sent to the crusher if Dino's were still selling for $25,000. The reality is, the top of the market impacts the bottom of the market.

Exactly, it is an outlier and so unique so you really can't use the value for much. How many 328s or any cars out there with 199KM or 125 miles? However, it is a sign that the 328s are appreciating, though difficult to track what the cars really sell today.

An outlier is an indication of a measurement or systematic error. The data falls outside the normal points. If we assume that this is the lowest mileage and most valueable 328 in existence then the record price paid is reasonable and within the slope of data points. If this was a average condition 328 with 35k miles it would be an outlier.

No comparison if this really is a 200km car to one with miles in my opinion, but yes, prices for the 308-328 have to rise with the rest of the market and their "competitors"
