Williams has a good team , they do a good job and get along, they don't need prima donas
The spanish journal "As" confirms Alonso signed a 2 year deal with Mac with a 3º as option (obviously this journal isn't worth toilet paper in what f.1 is concerned but they have some credibility regarding Alonso).
... biggest mistake of Ron Dennis's storied career, once re-signed, Alonso is going to do to McLaren exactly what he just did, to Ferrari. Modus operandi, tilt McLaren's gravy boat toward himself, poison McLaren's well and gorge himself, squeezing every precious drop of McLaren's life blood, until nothing's left. It may well take Vettel and Raikkonen the balance of their collective careers, mopping up the mess Alonso made of Ferrari. Alonso's modus operandi: in 2015, look for McLaren's number two driver to mysteriously fall one second per lap adrift, of Fernando's number one McLaren; look for McLaren's number two driver to mysteriously founder, in qualifying; look for a behemoth points gap between McLaren's two drivers (e.g., Alonso doesn't take points off other drivers; he, instead, elevates himself cannibalizing his teammate's points haul). The absurdity of Ron Dennis, re-signing Fernando Alonso, defies any analogy the most gifted of interdisciplinary scholars could muster - asj.

Autosport echo but do not confirm either Sources close to the Woking-based outfit have revealed that Alonso has now finalised a big-money move from Ferrari to McLaren next year, renewing a partnership that ended prematurely in 2007 after a tumultuous campaign. Sky & Autosport suggest this will enable an announcement by/in Abu Dhabi but they don't agree on no 2 - Sky has Mag - Autosport say no decision
Kimi and alonso are reportedly on equal salaries for 2014. Alonso has scored the team many points and thus constructors money. Kimi has not. I think it's clear who is sucking the lifeblood out of the team and needs to step aside.
I understand that Alonso is normally worth a lot of money but I do not understand why he is paid that much under these circumstances as I think he had not many opportunities to sign up so McLaren should have been able to beat down the price and safe a few bucks...
They had to make it attractive for Nando to make use of his exit clause, to go from a solid front contender (even though regretably not for P1 for a while) to a team that built dogs for two years with a motor manufacturer of unknown capacity in the turbo aera. Sounds like they really gotta make that attractive to him.
I saw this. This is more of the same. Not that I doubt it is happening. It's just that this new headline and new gossip around the same story with no officialness.
Read my post again. Most already believe it's happening. The point is that we keep hearing about every little new reason to believe it's happening. I'm tired of hearing all this annoying minutia. There is no more suspense, so this little non info every day is just annoying. Alonso bought a new pen, oh it's probably to sign the new McLaren contract! McLaren just bought a new chair and it's Alonso's favorite type, must be for the new deal! Just make an announcement and get it over with.
I did read your post three times, and as I stated, it appears for some of you that Autosport has lost its credibility. In these forums, I always read that only if it appears in Autosport will the rumor be believed. It is in Autosport, and still you will not take it as fact. No problem. Until they retract, I believe it to be fact.
...and still didn't understand it and ignored my explanation of it. OK. At no point did I mention credibility or Autosport. You're inserting your own meaning into my post. In fact I said I believe it's going to happen. Good for you. I'm glad you have a process that works for you.
$50m / year!!!! Has everyone lost their minds?! So F1 is whinging about budgets and then the daft morons go and pay Alonso $50m / year?! That is completely ridiculous even if he is very good.
Driver salaries have nothing to do with budget caps and nor should it. Are budget caps hot topic? There was a little noise in 2009 about it, and some teams that didn't do their homework or their sole hope of a little bit of success was the hope that the budget cap would indeed happen, are now all gone. AFAIK there's always been some noise of a budget cap, nothing has ever come from it so far. In any case, if lets say tomorrow a budget cap does happen, it will not affect the drivers salary; You can't expect these guys to go from 20m to lets say 1m. All of them will leave and F1 will be about as popular as F4.
I guess most of the talk about salaries is BS, probably they´re earning a fraction of that. But anyway, apart from the hability at the wheel, the PR input that a World Champion brings to the team is important too, specially for a newcomer like Honda.
