It focuses on the 100 years anniversary celebration in 2010. Regarding the fact, what a crap this centenary celebration in 2010 in Milan was, I wouldn't even pay $20,-- for it. I was present with my '72 2000 GTV. Alfa Romeo and their commissioned organizer completely failed. Absolutely nothing worked, beginning with the 'free laps in Monza', which weren't free, though announced as so. They took a lot of money from me for me and my co-driver and we got absolutely nothing. This was the worst event I ever attended and , for instance, not to compare with the great Ferrari celebration in 1997. Best Regards from Germany Martin
I have a lot of workshop manuals, parts books; mondial, T, carbrio, 3.2, 246dino, testarossa, 355, 456,400GT, F40, 288, 308, 328, many twice. Clearing out! Or do I need to post them in Ferrari Ads?
Nice signing and presentation for the new book, Lancia and De Virgilio, an engineering and design history of Lancia cars by Geoff Goldberg was today at the Hayes Collection of exotic sports cars in Chicago. I have amassed a Ferrari collection featuring the years 1946-1966 of over 1000 Ferrari book and magazine titles and 1142 individual files on Ferrari cars starting with 01C, expanding on the Barchetta page for each one This collection is on going but as I am getting on I am looking for ideas of what to do with it. Included are all the original Ferrari yearbooks from 1951-1966, and titles like Time and Two Seats,Making a Difference, Emotion Ferrari, Ferrari in Camera and most of the other great ones. The magazines include all original copies of Cavallino and Forza and selected copies of many others.I would very much like for the collection to be kept together. I am starting to explore ideas towards finding a future for this collection. Selling is an option but finding the right location is by far the most important consideration. Any ideas. Many of you have been at this collecting thing longer than I have.I will look forward to any suggestions. Thanks tongascrew
I did once sell an intact collection of more than 200 Porsche titles to an individual. It was by word of mouth and to someone who lived with 60 miles so there were no shipping issues. I was very lucky indeed. In your case I would start with contacting museums and owners of private Ferrari collections. You might also check with Bonham's or Gooding about the prospect of auctioning the entire collection. . Also, perhaps Marcel Massini might be willing to assist in some way. I am now out of ideas! Good luck! Jack
George, I promise to be a responsible guardian. Failing that may I suggest that you get in touch with the REVS Institute in Naples Fla. They are amassing a comprehensive library and archive and may be interested in at least some of your material. A number of very well known authors, collectors and historians have made donations. I'm but a lowly volunteer there but perhaps I could put you in touch with someone. David
Hi Thanks I have started something with Gooding and RM. Good idea on the private collections an museums. Thanks tongascrew
Hi Thanks for your comments.. The collection is ongoing and I have no real plans for it until maybe 2016. The Literature collection has just about everything and then some available for the period. It is the collection of individual Ferrari sn cars that is special Each file is based on the Barchetta sheet for the car. This has then been added to over the years from numerous F Chat and other sources.A few have only 2-3 pages. Some such as 0384 and 0864 have over 200 pages because of their unique provenance. All the rest average 30-40 pages. It has been very rewarding to have had input from most of our best historians filling in and correcting the Barchetta pages and other sources. If at all possible I want the collection to stay intact. I would prefer at some point to sell but can be very flexible on the price.Keep me posted on your thoughts. I would be glad to hear from REVS.Thanks George
Fantastic new book from Simon Moore on the early Alfa Romeo Grand Prix cars. Two volume set with many rare photos and overall well researched information. The Magnificent Monopostos Alfa Romeo Grand Prix Cars, 1923-1951 Image Unavailable, Please Login
+1 on REVS Institute. Your material would be available to all the historians and researchers who visit REVS working on their own projects. They are also very interested in original period photos/negatives of motor racing, production, etc.
I have ordered "Automotive Traveler's Classic Car Celebrates 60 Years of Ferrari in America"....Really rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? It's available on Amazon. There was a post here about it the other day but I can't find it now, so it may have been deleted as advertising. It's a picture book about the recent event on Rodeo Drive. I have also ordered one of Anthony Pritchard's last books, "Grand Prix Ferrari." To be published posthumously, unfortunately. He was quite prolific and his opus on the D-Type Jaguar is just about to be published by Palawan.
Hi, I have been thru a part of the REVS Ferrari collection It's huge, with hundreds of photographs. I sent them an e-mail a few days ago. Do you know any there who I could contack directly. Thanks. e-mail me at [email protected]. George
I just received this book (I purchased two copies) and have to say I regret buying it. The photo reproduction and paper quality are both substandard and the gutters ruin virtually every picture. Save your money and just look at the many great pictures of this event that are on the web.
There is candid camera and candid comments.Well done. I wouldn't have bid on this one for my collection. To general. I try to keep between the goal posts 1946-1966.As it is I am just about out of room.tonascrew
Anyone interested in reading the legendary FIAT designer Dante Giacosa's excellent memoir "Forty Years of Design with FIAT" can download a free electronic copy here: FCAGroup - Centro Storico Fiat republishes "Forty Years of Design with Fiat"
I ordered the book in spite of the negative review, and I'm glad that I did. I didn't find any fault with the page or photo quality, and while reproducing the photos as two pages across the gutter may not have been ideal, it does make for nice, large photos, and the entire car can be seen, gutter and all. I only wish that the text of the descriptive cards that were displayed with each car had been included. I know that the photos can also be seen online, but there is still something to be said about a book that one can carry around and show people. The price of the book is quite reasonable.
received this today and I really like it it has an overview of the history of the brand and the important people over the years that were influential in the development of the road cars photography is a mix of the old & new with each 'super car' covered Mr. Goodfellow knows his Ferraris and did a comendible job on this reasonbly priced book have a look and decide for yourselves Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ferrari has just sent our sales department a few copies of Ferrari Magazine's 60th Anniversary of Ferrari in America book for them to sell to their best clients. Since they came through parts, I was able to convince them to let me keep a couple of copies to offer for sale myself. They are 500 slipcased and numbered copies. 302 pages and are signed by Luca Cordero di Montezemolo. The price is $500 plus shipping. If you are interested, PM me, email [email protected] or call 800-522-2345 Thanks Ken Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ken Just received my copy this morning and would like to THANK YOU for a really outstanding service! It could not be better. You guys are the best. Best regards Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Unless the picture Ken took of is of the same book Marcel got the writing seems to be almost exactly the same. I used to sign lots of autographs and getting the signature the same let alone the text would be hard! That said I would be proud to own this rare book! And yes Ken and all at FMOA are the BEST!!!!!! I bought my first GT4 service manual over 20 years ago even before I ever got a car just so I could get to know the model. They were FAF back then and had so many parts I wish I would have bought them all up, real Carello wiper blades for cheap!!!!! Boy how time flies!
