I could imagine they develop an exhaust actually QUIETER than stock, as noise-regulations on many racetracks get stricter all the time...

Manufacturers are hamstrung by the least common denominator of track regulations and what they think most customers want. Those who want it louder go to the aftermarket. That is what it is for.

Isn't that the basis behind the exhaust mods that Ferrari currently offers for the 458?

Speciale should have a better sound than 458. But looks like Ferrari doesn't want to go all out and trying to lower the sound, so their new model, which is vacuum cleanered won't sound that bad in comparison.

You might be giving Ferrari more credit for "advanced planning" then they deserve :)

Ferrari will build best turbo on the market but they will not fix sound, this car will have only good sound at low and medium rpm

I beg to disagree. There is no crisis. Perhaps a sound preference. I drove my Speciale early this morning and bounced off the redline once or twice. The sound was rapturous and absolutely stunning. The Speciale does not sound like a Scuderia or a standard 458, but it shouldn't. It is a very unique car with its own virtues and sound dynamics. It is in many ways automotive perfection. If we begin to fiddle and modify things we change their essence. As I was driving across my favorite canyon in North San Diego county I was startled to see an F50 barreling towards me from the other direction. I nodded at the driver and listened to the exhaust note as we passed each other. The F50 did not sound at all like the Speciale---I think thats as it should be.

Is there any way we can make any road version Ferrari to sound like the FXX evolutione? Every time I listen to the FXX's downshift sound, I get wet.

Having owned both, an F50 with full Tubi exhaust is one of the best sounding engines on the planet. My current Speciale in comparison sounds very synthetic and sound engineered just like the Scuderia that preceded it. In the past Ferraris sounded fabulous without the need for sound engineering, most likely because of less stringent regulations. I fear the coming turbo generation will sound terrible and that's a shame because the fabulous engine notes are part of the very essence of what makes Ferraris so very special.

We can't really compare a V12 hypercar with aftermarket exhaust to a V8. Just listen to the insane sound of the LaFerrari! That's the V12 magic...

My Scud with Tubi Titianium spolied me really !

No matter what and how I drove the Speciale it won't generate half the excitement.

I guess some should accept this because it's the last NA or install an aftermarket exhaust or the new OEM if it will come which I don't think it's will be loud enough.

because once the new model go turbo you should adopte to the new tone.

    Noway around it.

Sounds great; but not even close IMHO. The best V8 that I have heard is a 355 Challenge which is a standard early 355 engine with less restrictive muffler supplied by Ferrari.

Even the standard F50 sounded better than the modern V8's; but yes a V12 naturally sounds different to a V8. My point was really that the older cars sounded good naturally, whereas the new stuff is sound engineered.

Every Ferrari is sound engineered, but with slightly different aims and restrictions.

Aftermarket cats will never be reliable ... the ECU will definitely throw a CEL in a matter of time. The only benefit is loudness, the performance gains if any may benefit for a short period of time.

That's a bit sweeping. After market cats can be as good as or better than OEM. Ferrari don't make cat cores, a company makes them for them. Like all components there are good and not so good. Various manufacturers of cat cores are seen as being better than others. HJS Emitec for example are considered to be excellent. Never had a problem on a 991 TS with Cargraphic cats with HJS Emitec cores. Have had one CEL from an Innotech F12 cat , but I don't know who makes their cat cores.

I wonder if anybody has just a valve switch/remote installed in the Speciale and could upload a video of f.e. the idle and rev. In the Scuderia it made quite a huge difference and was completely satisfying for me. I'd appreciate it!

It's a lesson learned for me.
I was using a renown aftermarket sport cat system installed with HJS Emitec cores (without naming names). It started developing problems after about 5000 miles/8,000 Km.

The cat cores in itself is not the problem, many OEM cats use HJS Emitec cores. I believe it's the resultant 'higher flow' of gases upsetting the air fuel mixture that gradually led to the deterioration of the cores over time and negatively affected the true performance of the engine. It sounded great though.

Many will continue to deny and that's fine with me.

Looking forward to the upgraded solution from the factory.

I personally have not heard the F458 with only our remote installed, however i have heard the F458 Speciale with our sport cats (200cell) and our remote. It was awesome.

Its a shame that the speciale sound isn't up there with the CS style. It still sounds great, but I am yet to hear an aftermarket one that makes it worth it. Its not about loud, its about that deep howl…that develops to the scream.

All in all…they all sound great.

One of our customers installed our test pipes, exhaust and a remote. The sound is everything you describe. as soon as he sends me the video I will be sure to post it here.

    Thanks
