Did not have time tonight to work on the car and I think tomorrow is out too But, I did receive a leather sample from CoachTrim and I'm blown away - this is b*tchin! What a great match color and texture!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
OK Guys, here is the deal on removing the sticky goo: I'm lucky enough to have a $10K ultrasonic cleaner in my shop. I brought in a few parts to test this morning - BOOM! Almost zero effort. I'll be bringing in all the rest. No chemicals needed. I will still wipe the parts down after and the certainly need scuffing prior to recoat.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's a special solution for Ultrasonic cleaning - I will have to look it up. I doubt the key is the solution - more than likely it's the heat (very hot) and the scrubbing power of the ultrasonics. We had a small bench top unit prior and it was a joke, the ultrasonic power was way too low.
Nice thread Dave. I did my switches myself and I put all the springs back in no problem. With your skills, getting them back together will be a breeze.
Hummmm. Great thought Dave. I never thought about just up and buying an Untra Sonic cleaner before. Might need a small one. Tank Length: 3" to 6" Heck this one is one sale! http://ultrasonicsdirect.com/ulclxp9x5x4t.html Think these little ones would work?
Thanks. As I mentioned, we had a bench top unit prior and it did not do much at all - total waste of money. The US power was too low. For sticky parts? - perhaps. I'd first try soaking the parts in 140 degree water (5 minutes) and see how that works.
There is a tab located at the top inside that needs to be depressed. See post #7 in this thread which has a very good picture of the locking tab http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/121126-center-c-vent-removal-348-help.html?highlight=dash+vent+removal
Nice find Watson. Dave, that looks like a great match with the leather. The price I was quoted to have some custom floor mats made was very reasonable.
Dave, I'm going to leave this right here. Bring on the flames. DIY Interior Color Stitching Also, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDIwWsQ37Tk
The problem is a dyed interior is a dyed interior. I know some have been very successful but I'm going to do this right, especially with the seats. Stay tuned
My budget is relative to the ultimate value of the car and the sum of the purchase price and improvements needed
You realize the leather doesn't come off the cow in that color and has to be dyed, right? Properly resotred/redyed leather looks the same as new. I would restore stuff that isn't isn't torn and/or shrunk as you only get the original leather once.
Not exactly true based on my understanding. Spray dye is different than the way a hide is tanned from the start.
Spray dye is not even a dye, it's more of a paint. It works pretty well but it's less durable, prone to scratching and needs to be resprayed every few years to keep it looking good. I used leatherique dye in my entire interior and it came out great but it is delicate.
^^^ It is more of a paint when they color the hides. [ame]http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w0qFge7JlBs[/ame] Fast fwd 13:00 is shows how the hide is made into leather seats on a pagani.
