Don't want to come across like an idiot but I hit the edge of a curb on the pass side while backing out because I forgot the island was there. A backup cam would prevent those little miss haps. Anyway got my unit installed today and I am extremely happy with the system. Since I don't live in California full time I love the gps built in, tHe backup cam is excellent the way it installs with the new d/s license plate light(totally looks factory) and the bluetooth works as expected. The ferrari script writing when the unit is open looks ok maybe work 100 bucks but the ferrari horse when you first start the car is awesome. But hey to each there own I also like carbon fibre gruppe m intakes and capristos even though so e think they cost too much. The only thing is the Plugs are not plug and play. The people installing it had to order the plugs and modify my existing. Basically they built an adapter which will be plug and play if I want to put the old one back and looks factory right now. Some other neat features is the radio will talk to you in different languages and accents. Haven't tried Italian yet right now it is on British and English. I will probably shut it off but it's good for a laugh right now because every time I speed it sounds like James Bond is telling me "your exceeding the posted speed limit"
Total cost was what was quoted plus 300 bucks to install both the camera and the unit. I will try to post a pic of the opening screen when the cavalino shows up. Oh ya I could take a pic of the backup camera. The backup camera is not even close to the quality of some of the after market ones but this one loos factory. That's its main advantage. Also it has a plug designed about 3 feet from the camera to probably aid in bumper removal. I have been reading the gps and I'm quite impressed with the options. You can go online and download the manual. Not sure that my garmin seven have some of these. Also the screen uses apple movements like drag and drop and slid and pinch so it's very user friendly for most.
Can't wait to see some pics, please show us that rear camera too...I wanna see how it looks. So you had it done at the F dealer? I guess total cost then was 1800$ installed right?
Get bk up cam pic later Yes about right and not a dealer but like I said unless I was not shipped all parts you need to budget extra time to get right plugs. It might be plug and play for a 360 or 430. Also it sticks out from the dash more than i like so I need to change a bit or find better faceplate than came with the unit. Grant does the unit allow you to change the LED colors from blue to green? That is the main issue I have with my Clarion pop up. The lights do not match the green hue of the instruments.
I think your right but there is so much to read about , that being said I have not come across that yet. Another cool thing and I'm sure yours is the same but if the case is closed which in my case usually it is, and I pull the f1 t handle for reverse the screen opens to show the camera on and then when I pull a paddle for first it closes, kinda neat I guess.
Well that is cool and the interface with the reverse switch is certainly OEM like so that gives the unit a but of panache. It appears to me your lights in your unit are blue/white where the 355s are green. Many new off the shelf units come with the ability to alter that color scheme from blue to red to green , etc. I would hope for that $$$ yours has that capability. Look through the manual it may be there. Make it green if it is.
I know that particular Clarion unit has the ability to change the background image so if you could put a ferrari logo wallpaper and etch the logo, you can get it for 500$
The unit sold by Ferrari for the infotainment system is the Clarion NZ503 It can be purchased for 500$ and then add 26$ for a backup camera from Amazon. Then change the wallpaper image to a prancing horse and etch the Ferrari logo and you're done. No disrespect to whomever buys the original but I'm too cheap not to easily want to save 1k. (The price for the unit at the top of this thread is 1500$ with the camera) You can buy the unit here: Clarion NZ503 Single-Din GPS Bluetooth Car Stereo w/ 7" LCD I'd love to do it but I am looking for a similar unit that flips down, would make more sense in a 355 IMHO
How can I get that done? Will it work on the plastic? Can you make the logo look white on a black radio? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
You could but i think the problem would be the factory backup cam that replaces our left license plate light . This helps make it like the way it was delivered. I am getting used to it but I am still not sure if I like it sticking out that much.
Here's an interesting alternative...pops down, gps, backup camera can be attached. And it's cheap. Soundstream VR-931NB (vr931nb) In-Dash 9.3" DVD/MP3/USB
I have a Toyota Rav4 with a back-up camera screen on the rear view mirror. A little rectangular screen pops up on one side of the mirror when the car is in reverse. I love it. It definitely helps. I prefer that method.
