I have been researching the purchase of a CS, however I am curious if there are any major differences between the Euro model and the US version. I have seen on some of the other F-Cars that things like launch control were previously removed on US spec cars or there were heavier bumpers installed to meet DOT requirements. So I was curious if it was the same case for the CS. Thank you for your time.

Here's the difference I noticed with mine:

US cars- Lots of smog emissions crap in the car mandated by politicians, awesome though
Euro cars- No smog crap, even more awesome. The ferrari that Ferrari intended to build.

The different exhaust and some various other smog components are different, as well as some lighting differences (ie. No illuminating reflectors) is what I have so far. Nothing too crazy yet.

    Big things: emissions.
    - Different ball valves on the gas tanks, some difference in the evaporative emissions hardware
    - Headers are challenge headers, no precats.. just straight through

Sidemarkers are added here in the states. Usually it was BMW sidemarker lights

Euro cars may have 4 switches on the left of the steering wheel- rear foglight on euro cars

Suspension may be lower by about 1/2", DOT mandated higher ride height than europe

Speedometer will be in MPH, other gauges may be in Celcius, as will HVAC controls in center column.

Alarm if not changed will be at 4xx Mhz vs 3xx Mhz US frequency

Impact bumpers, esp front may be different with bigger buffer on US cars

Doors on Euro cars may not have side impact bar that US cars have.

Motor ECU has been reported to have a different tune than US cars but I haven't heard too much about it

Euro cars will invariably swerve to nearby coffee shops and French models may not start if car doesn't feel like it or it wants to be driven more hours per week. ;)

Don't forget about the optional lexan side windows, harnesses and roll bar/hoop.

I remember a blue one (TdF possibly) in the model's presentation with the lexan side windows. Very nice extra!

My gosh I never realized that the Euro CS is so much different [read "better"] than the US. This happens all the time we get screwed here with items we can't have, for no bloody good reasons wither ... ugh! :-(

Yup, we really get screwed. No 20% VAT, no $8 per gallon gasoline, no $thousands annual registration fees, etc, etc.

^^^ lol okay okay ya got me on that one Terry. Overlooked that. Just wish the cars would be the same that's all. I remember years ago this was the same case with BMW and other German makes had the same sorta deal with differences in engines and so forth.

Sunir- Ferraris are very close to world cars now and have been for quite a while. Although that looks like a lot of differences, the US and ROW CSs are actually very close in spec. That is vastly different from what it was in the 70s.

You are right about everything else but not this - annual "registration fee" (car tax) is 285 of our British pounds, roughly $450. It may not last though - a general election is coming next year...

I was talking about the ROW, not just the UK, and even $450 is outrageous. In some countries, much higher.

True, in Italy for example it would be approx Eur 1,150 ($1,400+). How much is it in the US?

In New Mexico, it varies from $27-$62 per year depending on vehicle weight. Sales tax on purchase is 3% (in some states no sales tax).
