[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2eHMBqxhtA[/ame] 6:57 on the almighty 'Ring... Look at the speed, I'm perhaps even more impressed that they found a driver able to drive like that.
Ring Times Matter To 918 Buyers. "According Frank Walliser Porsche had 600 + deposits on 918's, even before they announced the ring times September 10th. He actually said 'We have deposits on 2/3rds of the vehicles so far', on September 9th. Subsequently, Porsche has said that sales have been boosted even more, since the Ring Time announcement at Frankfurt (September 10th). So now they expect to sell out, 'well before the year is over', according to them. This information came from Walliser at Frankfurt."
Thought Id add this video posted on its own in the Porsche section just to keep everything together..... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Nr7ymjCAfQ]Porsche 918 Spyder: Engine Technology - YouTube[/ame]
A friend had posted this picture to a week or so ago. The car was parked in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Colorado. He speculated they were doing some high altitude testing as the car had the passenger seat removed to make space for a laptop. As an interesting side note, he said that all four wheels were curbed pretty bad and that the top was sealed with duct tape, which I wasn't able to see in the picture. Pretty cool spot nonetheless. Nice spot... but jeeze it looks terrible in yellow. (Disclaimer, I don't like yellow on any car.... It's for taxi cabs.)
I agree with poster above. That yellow is not working for me. I thought it would look amazing in any color with yellow being one of the best. BTW these hybrids should perform well at altitude since the electric power train does not rely on Oxygen the way a combustion engine does. In Denver at a mile high the power is sapped a bit on ICE's.
More than a bit... more than 20% in Denver, but that's the lowest they'll be. The pic is taken at a bit over 6,000' asl. They've been seen at 10,000+ feet asl.
BREAKING NEWS! (if you believe a high-school level video which shows nothing......) McLaren P1 cracks 6:47 at the Nordschleif........ McLaren P1 Breaks Nürburgring Ring Record? - Pursuitist Are we believing this? (not here, not yet........)
Nothing in that video shows the car doing a 6:47 laptime. It's just a regurgitation of the rumor that has been going on for a while.

Man those yellow cars are Not my cup of tea. The Sultan of Brunei had many painted in some form of yellow. Have to say I usually am a fan of all cars, however I have had friends that are big on the Porsche product and have been for a long time not a fan of Porsche. I like some of the race cars over the years. Had a chance to drive Otis Chandler's 917's when he owned them. Collier in Naples is a big Porsche guy. I guess all my anti-P started when my buddy Cozy was touring the US with Rainbow and one of the big rigs flattened my car during the tour that I loaned him. Have to say I am extremely interested in ordering more than one from having driven one for about 100 miles while overseas. Dam exhausts right behind your head and could get a bit noisy. Remember when we went out of our way to make our rides louder. I think what really amazes me is the software that controls the vehicle making thousands of computations an instant. I shut off all the controls as best as I could and took it out and lit it up. Really amazing with all the controls on how it keeps the vehicle on the road as best as it can. I'm sort of old school like when driving one of our McL F1's and you know when you are riding the edge. Not sure if drivers without a serious drivers history can appreciate the differences in a vehicle like the 918. I'm just now trying to figure out the Weissach package. Just a bit lighter and I don't need any stinking graphics package. Funny thing I like the regular wheels over the magn ones. Six point belts and some aeroflaps included. I haven't seen one in person yet just the regular 918 if you want to call it regular. Sort of doing it half assed backwards because I had one of my guys order the rapid charging systems for both the east and west coast homes. Will let them figure out how to incorporate the other electrics outfitted already. I just took delivery of several Jags which came through their special ops division. The series 7 I decided to go with the blue that was used on the concept vehicle. I think that color would look killer on the 918 Has anyone seen the 918 in the Sapphire blue color? https://www.flickr.com/photos/98028471@N06/11890732823/ This was the car that one of the tours rigs ran over. Had it cubed and made into a base for a glass table top. Cozy RIP the man in black. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9JP-xwB_YQ&list=RDs9JP-xwB_YQ#t=6 Sunset-Cozy Powell ....
I certainly agree concerning the cars track potential. After I drove it I concluded it would leave my RSR racecar for dead on just about any track
wish they would have given us a ls lap time to compare to randy pobst in mt mag. they usually give lap times in excellence track tests. when they say the car is constantly getting electronic upgrades is that compared to the pre production tester the mags had? or compared to earlier customer cars? does porsche do regular customer car updates? just curious
I read (or think I read) on Rennlist that 918's are now officially sold out world-wide. Can anyone confirm/deny?...T
I'm near certain I read that early cars would receive all upgrades for free. From that, I conclude that these improvements are over the early customer cars -- the cars that were closer to the one's the Press tested at Valencia than Leipzig, or wherever the first intro ran.

Show us some pics of your Jags if you can! Nice views on the 918, thanks for sharing. They don't surprise many of us who never doubted the car's potential. Others won't take you for your word, but they don't really show up in this thread I guess.
Yes i read its sold out also but i think that just means not making any new ones. There are still cars that have already been ordered by dealers that can be had.
