    Hi Antonio,

I just replaced my battery and chose the Odyssey 34R-PC1500T. Couldnt be happier.
    Excellent battery.

The Odyssey is an AGM, a sealed battery so there is no danger of battery fluid leakage which is poisonous and highly corrosive.

The old Interstate MTP-91 installed in the car leaked and corroded the battery tray. No more lead batteries for me.

I will post a thread this weekend on how to replace a battery DIY and where to buy the battery and some other tips on battery removal and replacement.

Here are some photos for now.

Will be interested to see if there are any fitment issues. I replaced mine with the Interstate and had to modify the hold down bar a little as the top was different. The Odyssey seems to have a flat top whereas the Interstate has a raised section between the terminals which is why I need to modify the strap.

Hi Alan, the Odyssey 34R-PC1500T was a perfect fit. No modification required at all.
    None whatsoever.

The battery terminals are in perfect alignment with the battery cable and the battery top has enough lip for the hold down clamp. Perfect replacement.

The Odyssey is also a sealed battery so there is no vent tube to hook up, no concerns on battery leakage or poisonous gas emitted to be concerned about.

The Odyssey is also much more powerful battery (850CCA). Battery is so powerful car starts right up.

I had great experience on Interstate Battery in the past. I had Interstate on my BMW M5 and two BMW M6. But I switched to an Odyssey this time as I now prefer sealed battery. And as it turns out the Interstate battery on my 360 leaked and corroded the battery tray and I had to clean it out really good with baking soda and water. This took time...

I will post photos and more info including my recommended battery charger for an AGM battery this weekend.

    All the best to you,

    Dan

Dan- The original battery on the 360, a FIAMM VR760, was also an AGM battery like the Odyssey 34R-1500T. When fitting a standard lead acid battery, like the old Interstate MTP-91, a vent tube must be fitted, as you discovered.

The Odyssey 34R-1500T is the Odyssey recommended battery for the 360, F430, 550, 575M, 612 and 599. I have heard nothing but raves about this battery. Since it is an absorbed glass mat battery, it can also be deep discharged multiple times without degradation and is pretty much leakproof unless you poke a big hole into the case. Theoretically, it could be mounted upside down and not leak.

Odyssey is still a better made battery than any AGM -- Just like everything else you get what you pay for.

What exactly makes it better ? Are you implying that since it costs more, it is better ?
Odyssey is known for making good products, but how much better ?

The Duracell has a 36 month replacement warranty and seems to be getting great reviews. I just happened to stumble on it at Sams Club which got me into considering it...

Well according to Odyssey "Odyssey's "secret" ingredient in their high performance batteries is virgin lead. Virgin lead plates can be made thinner and still be stronger than their lead-alloy cousins."

And you would think Ferrari who has used Fiam for most of its vehicles and has currently switched to Odyssey with there higher technology you would want such a thing. A battery that is not recommended by the manufacturer can possibly cause issues - not saying it will but you never know. Also the battery may have a longer life to it as well.

Bert- The Sears Platinum AGM does not have the reverse terminals of the Odyssey or the Interstate AGM equivalent. It is made by, guess who, Odyssey.

My Diehard is the Gold AGM 34 R, reverse terminals, fits perfect......
Currently $165, and you can get deals all the time for $10-20 off.
    3 year replacement.
The way I look at it I am going to replace my battery
at least every 3 years or so, working fine or not. Getting stuck in a F-car with a dead
battery is not high on my list, getting jumped is highly risky, and with electric seats
as I have, all the way back, the jump points behind the seats are
    not accessible.

    Hi Bert,

Thanks for sharing the info about Diehard battery. Looks like its another option for our cars.

And I agree with you 1000%. I too replace my batteries preventively before 4 years is up.

Getting stuck somewhere unable to start the car is very embarrassing....

Jump starting our car is also a very risky approach as these cars are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations.

I too recommend to others to replace your battery preventively, around 4 years.

And I highly recommend sealed AGM batteries. No poisonous gas, no acid that can leak and damage your car.

    Dan
