    Looks like both fancar and regular BT46 Brabham Alfa Romeo's will be done by Hiro in 1/12th scale. Always loved these cars, and they sounded great on the track.

    Well Profil 24 is doing it again. They are duplicating a kit idea just after someone else announces it. For many years we have not had a resin 906 kit in 1/24th scale. Fernando Pinto from FPPM just announced it a little over a month ago. Now Profil 24 announces the same kit on their website. He has done this several times before. So many cars need to be done in 1/24th scale and sales are VERY VERY limited. 2 companies cannot do the same cars in resin kits and expect to make any money. Expect the Profil 24 kit to be alot more expensive and alot less detailed(Profil 24 has shown the 906 kit without a motor). FPPM will have full chassis detail and a motor(will Profil 24 now add a motor:) ).


    I remember my Scale Designs Greenwood Corvette selling very well. Several dealers were told by Profil 24 his Greenwood Corvette that came out 2 months after mine did not sell very well at all(well no duh, I beat him to market).Duplicating hurts and cannot be afforded in this very very small resin kit market. You all may not realize they are selling from 75-150 of each kit if they are lucky!! Things have changed since we sold 500+ resin kits back in the early 2000's.

    He could do 910, Berg Spyder, whatever. I'll still pop Fernandos. P24 has never made me happy, just meh. I've got an old Lindberg 1/24 906 that actualy is acceptable as start point. Nasty tires/wheels, but Fujimi fixes that. Never have seen another kit. All the 910 kits I've seen are poor, have never had eyes on the 910 from S. America. Looked nice in pics though. Never could get one.

    Hi Tom

    I get where you are coming from but where do we draw the line.

    On several occasions manufacturers have claimed they are working on things that never see the light of day - and this must sometimes make others shelve their version of the same project (which may be nearing completion).

    eg. I remember some time back Hiro showing first images of several projects that have never appeared - one of which was a 340/375MM.(maybe the licensing mafia have stepped in here)
    Now- several years later Profil has shown that he is working on the same car - is that wrong - how long should he wait? - I think it is fair game to go ahead.

    Paul Fisher had a 750 Monza on the blocks some time back - still nothing - will it happen - or would it be wrong if somebody else released one. (or has somebody else already shelved theirs!)

    I am all for treading carefully but sometimes a serious level of investment has been put into these kits so some feel they only have one choice.

    There is also the dilemma of wether to tell or keep quiet about projects - I am assuming you are alluding to the Paul Fisher / LMM spat from way back - when Paul announced his next project and LMM went all Prima Donna on him. Understandably Paul has kept his cards close to his chest since then.

    Interesting potential debate here

    I hear you, and it is a tricky issue. I just hope they keep making nice kits as the market has gotten alot smaller. I hope the next generation puts down their video games and stops texting so much. In 20 years no one will be able to build anything if they don't.

    Do you know what CAD system MFH is using? Anyway to find out?

    The work is incredible. Not sure how they create it all without intimate knowledge of the car.


    And to get that knowledge would take a very long time and be verty expensive.

    Would be interesting to understand how they generate the models. From what?

    As a professional car designer-I am very very impressed.

    I only have the information they posted on their website. You can try asking them directly to get more information. They are one of the top resin model kit design companies in the world, if not the biggest. I wonder how many hours they take for each high detail model. They are located in Tokyo Japan. They also do work for other Japanese companies outside the model industry wich is how I think they make their money.

    I'm a user of Catia V5 for my modeling projects and I have the same interrogations about their work...
    Like said Tom, all their masters are 3d printed (they have purchased a machine some years ago).

    I had GoEngineer print a 1:5 rim and tire with very realistic feeling/looking rubber. They said only three printers can do that in that world. Still had clean-up of layers in the plastic. Rubber was good as printed. Any idea how well they print and how long they clean up afterwards? The photos all show amazing detail. Great to see craftsmanship is not dead.

    It isn't necessary to have a professional CAD program to make good 3d printed parts. I use Sketchup ( the free program) for designing parts for printing. Here's the start of a Delage V12 that I will have printed by Shapeways using their ultra fine detail material. That block will be about 1 1/2" long in 1/24th scale.
    Brian - I live in Norcross. Send me a PM and I can show you the work that several members of ACME ( Atlanta Car Modelers Enthusiasts) and myself have done using CNC and 3d printing.

    Super Beta rocked! When my dad brought that thing home we thought we were surely on top due to the refined format. Then we tried to rent movies. Sometimes the best idea is not the most popular for sure.

    Hiro 1/12th scale BT46 wheels mounted on Good Year slicks. The left is from Sweden and the right from Italy. They did use the right 935 dish type at Sweden during the race also.
