More that 500 hp from 5.2L naturally aspirated engine. Nice. Has anyone heard base pricing? One would hope that it'd be cheaper than the Z28, especially if they plan to later introduce a GT500.

2 different cars IMHO. One is a fast GT, the other a track star.

Rumors on the mustang sites have it in the $55 range, and a GT350R track car coming afterwards in the $75+ range.

I've already called my dealer and told him put my name down if he can get one (base car).

    :)

Mine is a 2013 and has 665hp. I love the car. The new Mustang is a much better looking car and it has a rear independent suspension. My 2013 has a low tech live axle rear. If the car is driven aggressively you can feel the low tech underpinnings. I love the car anyway.

I was told by the dealer the new Shelby GT500 will have 650hp.

I have been talking to two dealers about a wildcat. I am anxious to derive one and make a opinion. I love the HP and the high teck EFICs gauge cluster. Up to now only my 458 has this feature.

I do know Chrysler has improved the engineering of its products. My 2013 Viper is so much better than my 2009 Viper. I happened to stop in a dealership drove the Viper and was so improved and so impressed I bought the car. It is now a serious sports car, still beautiful and a beast but a good driving beast.

    Best

I have been very interested to see how this car turns out. Bucks a lot of trends and norms for Ford, hope the sound is more exotic as well. But looks alone I think they got it right, so we will see. Should be an awesome replacement for the Boss.

It does sound good, but I was hoping for a little less of an American sound. We will see.

I was at the official press unveiling for the new GT350 today. I have to say I was very impressed by it. The widened front end of the car with the new lines look great in person. The exhaust note is very quiet at idle, but it becomes an entirely different animal under load.

I spoke with a few of the top FORD guys about it after the unveiling. They made it clear that the horsepower and torque figures they released today are absolute minimum figures.

They don't have any official pricing for it yet won't even provide a "rough estimate" on price. Yes, there is speculation as to pricing on several forums, but those figures are guesses that have not come from FORD.

Great looking car that's going to perform well. I personally think that people will love them.

Thanks, I like everything about it except for the hp if less than the 2013 500.

It should have over 600 IMO.

They haven't provided exact power specs yet. They've only said that it's "at least 500 hp and 400 lb torque".

Also, this is a normally aspirated engine, no supercharger / turbocharger here. Yet. My personal guess is that one might be coming at some point.

I really like that it's naturally aspirated. I don't really like forced induction engines - supercharger whine is annoying, turbochargers lag, and both (in my limited experience) are maintenance headaches. Natural aspiration is the way to go. :)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I expected the flat-plane crank to sound different, different as in much better. Where is the Ferrari howl?

Dude, it's a Mustang. Like a Ferrari, the exhaust is tuned for a specific audience.

The 350 and 500 are different animals. 500+ horsepower is fine for a N/A car that should rev really quickly and is a more balanced performance package.

The new 500 will be the strait line animal that will have too much horsepower for the chassis, like the old one.
