You've got to wonder at the stupidity of Ferrari though. Vettel is no Schumi and he'll never engender the team cohesiveness or attract the people, both of which were significant in the earlier success.
Yep, I would have tried everything to keep Alonso if I were Ferrari. He has been there for years, knows the car, the procedures at Ferrari and the fans love him. Having Vettel there now, means they start all over again. Look at Kimi, same deal applies there. Will take years to sort them both out now.......
Funny you say that, some years ago I met some of the Scuderia team in Brisbane (they flew up to buy some sail boards) when asked about Michael, what sort of a person he was, they replied "eh, he's German" .... typical bloody Italian reply The Ferrari team really loved Michael and you never really heard any scandal off the track and only whining from the losers on it
They'd to do something.. Persisting with the same formula hasn't work work... Like they say.. Doing the same thing yet hoping for a different result is just not going to work
You're right, it's just that "Change the best part of the system" mightn't be the thing that you'd ordinarily start with
Maybe they had no choice? I think him giving them 5 years is pretty good length of service (& persistence).
If Kimi outpaces Vettel, I'll join moretti and support Dan and Red Bull instead of Ferrari, because it will mean Vettel isn't even in the top ten... I'll also eat my hat, be a monkey's uncle, and buy a FEOHOS.
They'll get another one before 2020, but one thing's for sure - it won't be with Kimi. Vettel or whoever replaces Kimi will get it. Of course I'm assuming that before then F1 goes back to what it's supposed to be: the pinnacle of car racing, not some Sarah Hanson-Young sanctioned Green wank-fest. Presumably Bernie will drop off the twig or be behind bars by then, so then a man can take over. I nominate Clarkson...
