i got an allocation for a Speciale and will be sitting down with a dealer to spec out a build next week.

for those of you who already got your 458 (either Italia or Speciale), if you could build your car all over again, would you do anything different? any options you regret not getting?

    i have a '13 spider.
i wish the side mirrors folded.
the side mirrors fold electrically only if you purchase the electrochromatic side mirror option.

Pass on the front lifter unless where you live demands it, I've used it once or twice and even then probably didn't need it.

If your car is a dark color, Id pass on the exterior carbon fiber pieces as they are only noticeable up close.

I would pass on cruise control which I have never used, and on the front lifter which I also only used once or twice until I discovered that the ground clearance was quite adequate for my area.

I didn't have the racing seats in my 12 Italia but that was rectified in my Speciale. My Italia had electro-chromatic mirrors with home link mirrors and front/rear sensors...I passed on all of these for my Speciale for a cleaner exterior look and because I never used those mirror functions.

IMO, suspension lifter is a must. Cruise control, iPod, sound system are useless. I have been owning the car for 2 years, never turned on the radio or music, not even once. Better to get CF interior rather than colourful seats or dashboard. Leather is better than Alcantara. Electric seats, heating are also useless. For exterior CF, better get from after market. Anti stone is a must, but get from after market.

2014 458 Spider. I got the electric seats for resale and am the only driver so it's useless for me.

I got the front and rear parking sensors which are useful in my small garage.

I wish I had folding mirrors, have them on my BMWs and useful in my small garage. I find myself manually folding the 458's mirror to avoid walking into it.

So grateful I ordered Grigio Titanio on Nero interior, 100x easier to maintain than my Nero Daytona Cali with Cuoio interior which would collect dust like a Hoover and look dirty after a light rain shower.

Didn't order front lifter and haven't needed it once. Would have been way more useful on my 911.

Glad I ordered the Ipod connector. Parked a Nano in my glove compartment with all my EDM playlists. Radio sucks in my town and CDs are so last century.

Glad I ordered the Grigio Chiaro stitching and Cavallinos. Looking at the horseys on the headrests makes me smile every day.

Not a fan of CF so Spider is CF free. Much prefer the feel of my leather covered LED steering wheel compared to the hard feel of the CF wheel.

Agreed on the Suspension Lifter suggestions (i.e., getting it).

Even if you've only used it twice, so far, those two times really counted. ;)

yeah, going to skip on getting a lift — my 991 GT3 has it and i’ll mostly daily drive the GT3 anyways

i am actually not looking to get a dark color but will try to do matte and also have them matte the carbon fiber pieces.

definitely not getting a cruise control. i maybe used it 5 times in my entire life and find it pretty useless…

i don't think that is even an option with Carbon Fiber Floor Plates I am getting (god i hope they are not slippery as dealer promises them not to be)

i am going to only get rear parking sensors and rear camera - want to keep the front without visible parking sensors. not ordering a lift… is IPod connector an option on 2014 Speciale? I didn’t see it — will ask my dealer about it.

thanks everybody for your suggestions and feedback

I'd go with the cruise control if you plan on driving on highway at all...throttle is so ultra sensitive you get an annoying on/off throttle sensation at anything over 60mph. Much more comfortable to set the cruise and adjust speed with the knob...again only if you plan on using it on highway occasionally.

Homelink is key. Didn't have it on California and always had to fish around for garage remote. Have it on Spider and it is a relief to have on rear view mirror. Since I daily drive this is an important option to me.
