Why was there (or was there) a catch weight for the Pac vs Algeri fight? Algeri had to cut 1 pound to make the 143 limit?

It's at 144. He came in at 144.2. $60.00 for this. Ridiculous!

Glad I didn't pay for that POS card. Again, the hype that somehow Algeri was a worthy opponent. The three featured fights where all shut outs. Seems like that's happening allot lately. I hope people wise up and stop paying for this crap. It's always disappointing if you've been watching boxing for very long.

They got another 40 bucks off me!
For 120 -103 or what ever they were fights, I thought the last 2 fights were good.
Zou Shouming switching from left to right was fascinating and he is so quick. That was a great fight. Had it all.
Dont know what Algieri's "plan" was his corner kept talking about, but I guess they thought MP would get tired. He only got tired from beating Algieri time and time again. CA offered nothing. All defensive. All he showed again, was that he can take a beating. Again very one sided, but enjoyed watching.
Best part was MP in post fight interview "Floyd's going to fight me? Yes"

Agree. Unfortunately I did pay for the POS card. The boxing marketing gurus continue to hype a fight and pull us in. As far as the fight goes, Algieri is an athlete, plain to see but no match for Manny. Manny knocked him down 6 times! If you do get a chance to watch it there is one moment that's pretty funny. Max Kellerman is interviewing Algieri's trainer during one of the rounds (I believe the 9th or 10th). He's telling Max how he is going to let Algieri "out of the cage" the next round so he will then knock out Manny. Just as he gets finished making that statement, Manny knocks Algieri right on his ass. Very comical. Boxing is now nothing more than a "prize fight" if you will, and dependant on the money draw and not the quality of opponents.

I was camping this weekend, so I missed the fight.

But there you have it eh? Kinda hoping for a Mayweather showdown next year, might at least provide some decent boxing. :D

Will definitely watch the replay online when I can, I want to see how Manny's form was.

Here's the fight, Manny looked great IMO. He beat Algieri like he committed a crime.

I reckon he will give Mayweather a lot of trouble and maybe even beat him to a pulp if keeps fighting like this.

He was ALL over Algieri in that fight, although Manny has always fought this way.

Has there been any other boxer that has done the same against Mayweather? And if so, how did Mayweather beat him?

Hope they can make it happen next year.

Yes, Pacquiao won that fight, but he didn't beat on Algieri or hurt him bad, even with the knockdowns. I hate Mayweather, but I think he will win against Pacman.

IF Mayweather chooses to win by points and points only, he is the best ever and will never lose.

IF he actually goes out and tries to "fight" and trade punches, Pacquiao can beat him.

    Mayweather defense > Pacquiao offense

With Pacquiaos offense, he will get hit but I think Mayweather can duck all the punches he wants and get in a few punches himself.

I can see Mayweather-Pacquaio 1 going to Mayweather in a boring defensive fight.

They then go to Mayweather-Pacquiao 2 then retire hopefully tied 1-1... will that be worse then them not fighting at all?

Please don't be sold on Mayweathers TBE crap. He's not even close to that. Furthermore, it's not possible for today's and future fighters to come close to the old timers. Boxing is one sport that has regressed very fast in terms of the athlete himself.

I don't care what happens, but I'd love to see Mayweather loose just once. The only thing interesting about the rest of his career is will he retire, and stay retired. The guy spends money like he stole it.

12 rounds of fighting. and he get anywhere from 15-40 mil?

Sure, its a lot of work and training but there a lot of other sports that you have to put in the same work and effort if not more and not get paid nearly as much.

Mayweather is benefiting from prior fighters and the market it has control of.

    UFC is far more entertaining.

    +1

I love boxing way too much to convert to UFC.

Don't be surprised if it doesn't though. :(

If FM doesn't fight Pacman, he will be bagged out for avoiding him for the rest of his life.

If FM does fight Pacman and loses, he will bagged out for the rest of his life.

If FM does fight Pacman and wins.............................then I will definitely think he is TBE.:eek:

I hope it does happen, I want to see it as much as everyone else. But I am not holding my breath at this point in time.

Mayweather made fun of Pacquiao... again on instagram.

Either he is insecure or wants a bigger upper hand in the negotiating table.

As it is, Mayweather will have majority of the purse, maybe 40-60 split? 30-70?

He's scared. Even at a 50/50 split on the purse, that will still be more than he will get with any other fighter, even if it's 80/20 in his favor.

Screw him, if he doesn't go for 50/50, then I hope the fight doesn't happen and he gets squat. Either way I don't care for this fight, should have happened years ago, but FM is bent on keeping that Zero.

For those who have not seen the Matthysee v Molina fight that took place in June of this year give it a look. It was one of the best fights I have seen in a long long time. Saw it on Showtime channel replay. Unbelievable war and a contender for fight of the year.

Good Pap. I saw it on Showtime pre-recording last night. It was on the same card as the Thurman v Diaz fight.
