I am looking for a small project car. Maybe somthing that sat around for a while and needs refreshed to get back on the road.
Not looking for anything rusty, or with a toasted motor.

    Big healey
    1988 M5,
    M3s,
    Alfas,
maybe an MGA or older (actually an MGC GT would be nice),
    jags,
    Porsche 911s,
mid/late 60s mustang fastbacks (would really like this too),
fiat dino coupe (would really like this!)

I can take care of shipping if you are too far for me to trailer it home.

let me know what you have :) Oh, budget, well it depends on the car. Send me what you have with your asking price

Can't blame them, it seems to be working out.

All cars would have to be manual

They made automatic MGC Roadsters and GT's....I currently own 4 automatics (and 4 manual transmission cars).

They use the ubiquitous BW35 automatic.

    Hey Rob,

There was a Dino Coupe for sale locally (recently) I'm not sure if it sold or not, I can ask him. It was a complete car, but it was a good project car from what I know.

Otherwise, how about an X1/9? hah, I'm not sure I'd ever sell mine - but they're a lot of fun - do a turbo swap from an Uno Turbo, some suspension upgrades and it becomes cheap & reliable mid engined fun!

I do know of a local Euro 308GTBi which needs a left front fender and part of the nose (it hit a stop sign, other than that - it's decent (Red on black w/red carpet).

There is a Dino coupe in my garage that belongs to my neighbor. Has abandoned it since buying his boat several years back. With a couple more days notice, I could have towed it up.

I have to suggest that you buy something in Europe and import under the 15 year Canadian import allowance. Ideally, you take a trip and enjoy the car there first.

If not, I suggest, buy from a dealer in Northern Germany. They can put it on the boat for you. The tough part is finding a car that is a little rough, to meet your project car definition. Yet, a car from a dealer lot is usually not so rough. A dealer is suggested because I can trust them with a wire transfer, unlike individuals.

Wow, that BGT is great. Is it yours? Would you take a Lancia Beta Zagato with European bumpers for trade? :)

You mentioned M3s-I started looking (again) at the earliest ones (E30) a few mos ago. Are these really trading at $40k+ these days?! I'm familiar with it's racing importance for BMW but that's some cash for a 200hp 4 cyl car. There was a car maybe 5yrs ago in this type of fixer upper condition I could have grabbed for what would amount to the sum of a few big bar tabs!

I have seen a few in the $20k range...but you can only imagine some of the 'stories' those cars must have. You don't want your project to start off with a full blown engine rebuild.

Of course it is only a 4 cyl...maybe 20k'ish is looking pretty good...oh man, thinking crazy again-I need to have a bunch of turkey today, pass out and sort this out on my in-laws couch

E30 M3s are fun to drive for sure--but they aren't as satisfying as an E36 M3 in "normal" circumstances. I was surprised to find the E30 M3 relatively boring to drive....although they do come alive when you put them on track or on some really tight twisties.

But, I can't see paying the money that they've been going for. Did the 911s drag them skyward? Who knows. The 190 2.3-16 is still pretty reasonable and is a similar type of car (and storied DTM enemy).
