I was speaking to Bruce at Fantasy Junction today and they just got in a 1974 red 4.9 Bora. The car has been owned for 30 years by a very well known Maserati gentleman in CA. I have no interest in the sale of the car but thought that those who are interested in a Bora for sale in the USA might be

Some odd stuff on that car. Mirrors, speakers, red carpet but the rest "looks" good.

I think this one used to belong to Oliver Kuttner?

    It's a very early car.

I've seen a number of cars with those little red lights on the tail but I have no idea why?
That's a good question for the factory.

I totally missed the extra sidemarkers, probably neon right? ;)

This was somebody's pet custom project. I don't buy the red carpet as original but hey?

But this stuff isn't hard to fix.

For that price it should be rotisserie restoration with all mechanicals having been rebuilt.

    Wanna take bets?

If the mechanicals really have been addressed it's a nice looking partial restoration.
The engine may not have needed all that much if the mileage is correct. Perhaps just disassembly?

We have seen just a few of these cars come to market since I started this thread and they seem to sell fast. The ask #s climb monthly. Ask is one thing, close is another and that's what I'd like to know.

    Oh it's reduced eh! ;)

I guess it kind of makes you feel better if you already have one but then there's this ...

I had a conversation recently with a fellow Lamborghini owner whose car is in nice shape but it's really a driver and he's lamenting the fact that it's now worth 550K as is and his insurance just went way up. One expert says it will be worth 1 mil in a year! So now he's getting afraid to drive it. He's owned it for a while and suddenly the market is seemingly robbing his ability to enjoy in the way he once did.

The potential of theft becomes very serious. People kill for this sort of money.

Be careful what you wish for ...

Drive a Biturbo and be very, very safe! LOL :D

I'm really glad to see that Bora's have finally began to move up the food chain. Having had our Bora since 1977 this is good news for us (sort of). Now that the car is more valuable I think twice about driving it in traffic. If I insure it for the true value then it becomes difficult to justify the bigger expense for a car that is driven sparingly. It truly is a double edge sword for me.

If a 350/400GT Lamborghini is not crazy @ 1 mil then 275K for a Bora is an absolute bargain basement price! It's all nutz!

Presumably, you bought the car because you were passionate about all that the Bora had to offer. Stick with the passion, don't drive in rush hour traffiic :), don't worry about the market, and enjoy the car as it was intended to be enjoyed - drive it!!!!

    Just Sayin!

    Ciao,
    George

The unrealized value may be meaningless to you since you've owned it for 47 years. But justification is easy on an asset like a collector car, to protect a potential financial loss, which would be the same whether it's driven or in storage. Makes no difference.

Annual "agreed value" premium on my Bora is 1% of value. It's been "earning" so much more than that per year. And I love driving the snot out of it.

    Best, - Art
