    This winter, I will refurbish my carbon ceramic brake discs (by SICOM). The front discs are cooked, but the rear-ones seem in pretty good shape. So how I can I determine the wear of my discs? It seems the weight is the only good way to evaluate the wearing!

    So does anybody know what's the "brand new" and minimal weight of the front and rear discs? It's probably without the central hat (please confirm).

    Micrometer. Weight isn't the best way, measuring the thickness is....

    I understood weight is the official measure for the carbon rotors which is why they are all stamped with a weight when new. They need changing when the weight has dropped below a certain percentage of this new weight.

    I believe thickness is also stamped on the rotors. I agree that a micrometer measurement is the way to go. Seems silly to remove the rotors just to determine their wear.

    CCB vs Steel rotor wear is measured differently. For example: CCB rotor " wear " is measured by time on the challenge cars.

    Steel rotor thickness is measured and I cannot tell you the last time I've replaced CCB on a street car " due to wear " .... So I confirm that spec tomorrow as needed.

    Jack, I'd suggest contacting the rotor manufacturer for their spec to be safe.

    My understanding is they aren't removed to weigh them but it is done by pulse induction - Ferrari dealers don't remove them to get the % and they don't use a micrometer!

    I will look at them carefully a second time to see if there is some stamp or indication on them.

    The mode of wear is different to steel discs. The surface of the rotor actually disintegrates and falls away in chunks. The only way to properly measure the wear is to weigh them.

    The only numbers on the hat are the minimum thickness : 33.5 mm and 35.5 mm. My discs are 34.06 mm and 36.05 mm thick! But according to the ECU, the front are 95% worn and visually they are cooked. The rear discs are like brand new. So no weight values?

    Put on a set of Mov'It CER rotors and pads and that will be the last set you need. Expensive, but permanent.

    Can you use Movit rotors with OEM calipers, or is it a package deal? Also, do you know what their rotors sell for ballpark?

    Dave- Affirmative, Mov'It makes replacement rotors and pads for the OEM Brembo calipers after much prodding. Check with them for pricing.

    Do a search for results of track testing. 2500 or so miles of tracking required a front pad change with no measurable wear on the rotors.

    Warranty on brake parts for track use, right...

    Thanks, Terry. Good to know for future reference. Out of curiosity, why do you post to the 360/430 section? Not complaining, but it appears that you've never owned either car.

    Dave- Most of the things I post on are common to all the late model Ferraris. F1 of 360 is nearly identical to my 575M F1, battery recommendations are the same, brakes are similar and mine has Mov'It CERs. Not involved in prices and that kind of trivia, but I do have all the production figures for everything up to the 360.

    Plus there are over 35,000 360 and F430 variant owners, so way more traffic than we see in the V12 sections. I learn something every day over here.

    Only way to measure them is with weight.

    I've never seen a CCB rotor change thickness much. Beat or new ones still read about the same.
