21 races - that'll save the teams money having cart all their stuff around to yet more events in far away and pointless places...

    Bernie's version of musical chairs.

20 will be it. Somebody will not pay up. And if they all do, Bernie wins again.

    The house always win.

A new race can make new money. That's not where costs need to be contained.

Great more GP's to watch on TV But I would not attend any of them until they sort out the noise situation - IMO

And no sign of either New Jersey (probably a dead issue) or Las Vegas.....

I think you are right about NJ, but Las Vegas isn't supposed to show up until 2016 (along with Baku?).

The musical chairs analogy is an excellent one. Even if there isn't attrition (like a race failing, or new one not ready in time), there are enough multi-year contracts that one or two of them are surely expiring in the next couple of years. So someone is left with their contract up when everyone else (even a new race) has a multi-year deal in effect.

Who knew Bernie learned so much about business in grade school?

    more races = more revenue

more revenue = more $$ for all

I think Korea is still TBC, which means it may end up cut leaving us with 20 races.

As long as Bernie is in power, forget about the cost cutting things.

Some cunning mind has come up with the following theory:-

Apparently, if there are 20 or less races next year, then teams are only allowed 4 engines for the season. However, if there are more than 20, then they are allowed 5 engines, even if one of the races subsequently falls off the calendar. Korea is on the confirmed calendar, but it is described as 'to be confirmed'.

Could this be some clever engineering of the schedule to get the 5 engine limit confirmed?

    FIA President makes "desperate plea".
My how things have changed. Mosley and Balestre alienated so many people that the FIA has been emasculated.

This is so stupid, so many races just takes the value of the others, i feel 18 where already more than enough.

Actually racing the cars is an insignificant cost compared to actually developing the cars.

    It's not all profit !

    more races = more spending

We all know that the revenue isn't distributed equally.

So the top teams may be better off, but the less successful teams will have more problem to make ends meet.

Is that why there is a testing ban?

To race cars at more venue means more logistics needed, more staff required, higher budgets, etc...

You are not doing your homework properly, me thinks.
One of the issues with testing was, as far as I remember, that having money made the difference. More chash lead to being able to run a full second or third team with second or third car. Hence, cash had a larger impact on inbalance and 'bought' success.

And it is correct, capex is probably mostly in staff, infrastructure, etc. Shipping a car and gear to a track is not the largest expense.

Didn't Korea learn anything from Yeongam ?
Even this semi-dictatorship eats at the hands of Bernie.

Big difference between Yeongam and Seoul: one is in the middle of nowhere with no infrastructure and the other in the middle of the biggest city

That said, Seoul is just a ruse
