Was it red like a Panny GTS? Did they think it was an FF? At this rate, I should just save my pennies, and put some Scuderia shields on my P-car?!? It is red over beige. OK, lost my head for a second there. Need to listen to some V12's revving on YouTube. :) …T

I was stopped at a cross-walk, waiting for the light to change, when a young babe walked in front, stopped, turned to me, and mouthed: "Wow!" Of course I was in a fly yellow 250GT SWB, so maybe she was right?

It was black. They may have thought it was an FF but then again if they knew there was an FF they should be able to recognize a Porsche.

This past September I took my 308 QV (acquired last year) on a road trip to visit my brother, and we dropped in on my sister as well. She came out, and said "WOW! ", and after looking it over for a minute, said "I didn't know you bought a Mustang?" My brother said "It's not a Mustang, it's..." and she interrupted him with "but it's got those horses all over it like a Mustang"

Few years back I was checking tire pressures on my 308GTS at a service station here in the UK when a Police Range Rover (used at the time for patrolling the near by M5 highway - they now use a plain BMW or Volvo, sneaky whatsits!) pulled up alongside, driver rolled the window down and said "Nice car". I replied "thank you". The Police driver then said (with a smile) " We'll keep an eye out for you" before driving off.

Whilst they do make use of plenty of "plain BMW's or Volvo's", there are also plenty of marked "battenbergs" used too!

While cruising last weekend I was stopped at a red light and a older model Bronco to the right of me revved it's engine.

It hardly registered since I had the top down and the 328 even at idle isn't quiet :)

Anyway a lady in her late 40's popped her head out the window and said apologetically she wasn't looking to race me it was that her engine keeps stalling and she has to rev it to keep it from dying.

I smiled and nodded waited for the light to change and then made a quick left so she couldn't see me laughing at the absurdity of the moment.

Ed... No Fair! Gordon and others, I've gotten the Mustang comment as well. Best one though, was on Newbury St. at night a few months ago. Cab pulls up next to me and attractive lady leans out the window looking back at me and ask, "Is that real?" I said yes of course. She smiled and might have given me a thumbs up, don't remember. Oh yeah, she did ask the year as well and said something nice about the nineties and our days or something. Many years ago I was walking on Newbury street and heard a TR rev up and pull off the curb on the opposite side of the street with some" young poser" and the wheel. It sounded HORRIBLE and clattered down the street. I felt pain in my gut and prayed he would get it serviced and run it up properly on Storrow Drive. How do you murder a 12c TR? ;)

You should have asked if hers are real.

People often ask me "how much"- and I am always amazed they ask a question they could get an quick answer from their smart phone. How about- how do you like it? Whats it like to drive? Oh well...

In college a friend of mine had a Turbo Saab that wouldn't idle, he had to rev it. One day at a stop light a cop was next to him, after a few revs the cop looked at him, took his hat off, and the drag race was on.

When I ask if they would like to see the engine, they always walk to the front of the car.

My response: it's back here where it Otta be. :)

When I get the walk to the front, I always open it up, stare at the spare tire and radiator and exclaim, "Oh, my god! Someone stole my engine!" :D

In my gt4 I point to the battery in the corner and tell them it's a new electric Ferrari. They usually get a kick out of that.

    front desk: A Ferrari, Ferrari?

I was at a Xmas party and brought the Ferrari. This guy walks in and asks the host who parked the beautiful Corvette out front. A Corvette? Really? I have an '89 348ts. This was an American male in his 40's. How does that happen? I gave him grief.

I guess it kind of makes sense. He then started talking about a friends older Mustang that was made by that guy who makes the custom Mustangs for Ford. At that moment 4 people shouted, at the same time,...SHELBY! 2 of them were women. (my wife was one of them ;) )

He then wanted to go look at it again. Once he saw "the horsey" on the hood, he knew.

I think he drives a minivan.
